Apart from the night, the translation of ancient poems

Full text translation

(The old year will pass and the new year will begin) Clean the house, wash away the dust of the past, burn a column of incense, and worship heaven and earth.

Everything in the world is bidding farewell to winter and welcoming the arrival of the new year. After tonight, the year will be over.

The fire in the brazier is burning, and the firecrackers are endless. The New Year's Eve dinner began, and I heard people toasting their elders with pepper and cedar wine.

Farmers have known in advance that next year will be a bumper harvest year, because the snow in winter has not melted yet.

works appreciation

"Everything sends residual wax in the spring, and the end of the year is tonight", which tells readers the author's mood on New Year's Eve at that time. It can be seen from the word "can" that the author's "one-year ending" is "not ideal".

In the book Making a Pot of Fire and Roaring Bamboo, Chinese New Year, I only listen to Zanthoxylum bungeanum, telling readers that there are folk customs such as "lighting a fire", "setting off firecrackers", "guarding the old age", "eating flowers" and "boasting Zanthoxylum bungeanum".

"Three winters of snow have not completely disappeared" is a scene of "snow has not completely disappeared" at that time. From Predicting Good Agriculture and Xue Rui, we can see that the author still hopes to "live a good life" in the coming year.

Brief introduction of the author

Later generations were Dai Liankui, an official of Qing Dynasty.

He studied with Lu You and wrote poems. His works were influenced by the poetic style of the late Tang Dynasty and had the style of Jiangxi Poetry School. Some works express patriotic thoughts and reflect people's sufferings, which is of practical significance.
