The first Yu Chenglong Cultural Festival was grandly opened in Gu 'an High-tech Zone, Hebei Province on the evening of August 19, 2023. In order to commemorate Yu Chenglong, a famous upright official in the early Qing Dynasty, carry forward the spirit of Yu Chenglong's water control, promote the high-quality development of Gu 'an cultural tourism, and enhance the reputation of Yu Chenglong's hometown, Yu Chenglong Cultural Festival is specially established.
Yu Chenglong Cultural Festival, with Yu Chenglong Cultural Street as the stage, is divided into seven scenes: fireworks, Hunhe emergency, bugle call, mountains and rivers, An Lan, Yongding Changliu, An Lan Xingye and Yongding Long song through scene performance, drum music singing, guzheng ensemble and poetry reading. In the form of art, it brings the audience an immersive experience from the historical story "Yu Chenglong Water Control" to the realistic version of flood fighting and emergency rescue, which embodies the inheritance and development of Gu 'an spirit.
Yu Chenglong is a famous historical figure who has made great contributions to water control. His ancestral home is Shangcun in the south of Gu 'an. 16, his family moved to Gu 'an, and he was half Gu 'an. In the thirty-seventh year of Kangxi, due to the flood in Beijing, the emperor sent Yu Chenglong to control the Yongding River. After the completion of river regulation, the emperor specially named Yongding River, which has lasted for more than 300 years.
Life in Yu Chenglong
Yu Chenglong was born in Yongning Prefecture (now fangshan county, Lvliang City) in Qing Dynasty. In the 18th year of Qing Shunzhi, Yu Chenglong was appointed as the magistrate of Luocheng County, and the Baojia system was defined during his tenure. People live and work in peace and contentment, and do their best to cultivate the land. In the sixth year of Qing Emperor Kangxi, Yu Chenglong was promoted to Hezhou, Sichuan, and later transferred to Huguang and Huanggang. He has served as an agent of Wuchang magistrate, Fujian provincial judge, deployment minister, governor and governor, minister of armed forces and university student.
Kangxi entered Beijing for 20 years and was promoted to the governor of Jiangnan Jiangxi. In the twenty-third year of Kangxi, the court ordered Yu Chenglong to be in charge of the government affairs of the governors of the two places, and soon died in office, and was posthumously awarded as the Prince of Taibao by Emperor Kangxi. In his career of more than 20 years, Yu Chenglong was praised as "outstanding" three times. He was deeply loved by the people and praised by Emperor Kangxi for his outstanding achievements and honest and hard life.
