Memory of the Old House Modern Poetry Reading

The old house was built in 1976

The mottled locks locked the three main rooms, the millstone and the livestock shed

But the locks I can’t help but be haunted by longing and dreams from my childhood

Memories have grown into weeds in the yard that no one has pruned

The younger generations have all squeezed their heads and moved to crowded cities

I moved to the city and became a promising person

If you ask me how many stories my grandpa has told

Please knock on my house One meter thick earth wall bricks

Grandpa’s story was encoded in when laying the foundation

I clamored to take a look at a brick every day

It feels cool to listen to it in summer

It feels warm to listen to it in winter

My father still carries the shiny hoe every day

I rummaged all over the soil

Finally the soil was moved by enthusiasm, and I picked up heavy embroidery ears

There were also piles of corn, sorghum and soybeans in mountains

The salt stains tightened my father’s sweat pores due to excessive water loss

But it relaxed the smiles of our family

When I didn’t know whether to bury the water pipes

The mother poured all her love into it

When you want to drink water, you just need to twist it gently

The cool and sweet pure water will gurgling

There are also emotions that are longer than the wool on the body

And the eyes of a mother who hopes that her son will succeed

The sun shines on a clear day Entering the hut

From then on, there were colorful paintings on the newly laid floor

On cloudy days, my grandpa and I played together

Asking if the world outside the window is the same Like a shop window dotted with dots

Without brushes, TV and the Internet are not the same years

Brush painting with thick and fine textures makes life more colorful

Finally one day my grandpa passed away

He said he went to a place where he could eat, drink and be free

My childhood friend was gone

They have all become bosses, and I don’t know what it has to do with the floor

Judging from the luxury cars and suits and ties they drove back

They will never live in an old house with floors again. Home
