Early spring in Nanhu
Bai Juyi
The wind has returned and the clouds have stopped, and the rain has begun to clear up.
The lakeside is warm and bright again.
The red mountain apricot hair is randomly scattered,
The new green water apples are spread flatly.
The white wild goose with low wings is still heavy in flight,
The tongue is astringent and the oriole language has not yet been completed.
I don’t think Jiangnan Spring is bad,
Year by year, illness weakens my mood.
Appreciation of Bai Juyi’s Poems
This is also one of the poems written by the poet when he was Sima in Jiangzhou. The first six sentences describe the beautiful and moving scenery of Nanhu in early spring, and the last two sentences express the poet's depression after being demoted.
As far as the first six sentences of this poem are concerned, it can be said to be a painting with a fresh realm. The poet grasped the clearing of the spring rain, the return of the sun, the blooming apricots in the mountains, the green apples on the water, the low-flying white geese, and the astringent oriole's murmurings, and made key descriptions of the images that are most characteristic of early spring. Just after the heavy rain, the ground and the lake were washed by the rain, adding an even fresher feeling to the charm. In early spring, there is still air-conditioning, but the sunshine returns, not only the scenery is beautiful, but also warm and bright; the mountains and apricots, the water and apples, prosperous, red and green, the contrasting colors are the most distinctive scenery in early spring. , is also an indispensable embellishment in this painting. The apricots all over the mountains and plains are dotted with broken red, showing the vitality of nature, so they are pointed out with the word "chaos"; the water apples on the lake are endless, like green lawns neatly spread on the water, so they are called "tiled". ". The word "flat" describes the neatness of the water apples, and is used together with the word "pu". It also means flat and vast, which makes people imagine the vastness of the lake and the lushness of the water apples. In the four sentences, the descriptions of clouds, rain, sunshine, mountain apricots, and water apples all appropriately reveal the signs of early spring. The fifth and sixth sentences, "The white wild geese are still flying with low wings, but the tongue is astringent and the oriole language has not yet been completed." The white wild geese and the oriole show the vitality of spring. Because the rain has not dried on their bodies, the white geese with heavy wings have to fly at a low altitude; also due to the rain, the oriole's tongue also seems a bit raw and unruly. They completely ignored the rain on their bodies and still danced gracefully. Even though their tongues were astringent, they couldn't help but sing and chirp, because the spring that had just arrived was so wonderful and charming. Their flying and chirping add to the charming and charming look of early spring. The predecessors said that "depicting early spring, it is colorful, and the ventral couplet is especially alert" (Volume 23 of "Tang and Song Poems"), which points out the key role of the third couplet.
The last two lines of the poem express the poet's depressed mood. Facing such a wonderful spring, the poet still lacks interest and has no mood to express, which shows that there must be huge pain in his heart. At this time, the country was suffering from internal and external troubles, and its power was declining day by day, but the poet could only watch sadly, with nothing to do. For a low-level official who was demoted outside, even if he had talents and good strategies, they were of no use. How could a poet who was worried about his country and his people and was suffering from serious illness be interested in appreciating the wonderful spring scenery? And the more beautiful the spring scenery is, the more lovely the country's rivers and mountains are, the more painful the consequences of the broken mountains and rivers, the ruin of the country and the destruction of the family are more painful.
"If you don't say that spring in Jiangnan is not good, your mood will weaken with each passing year." This is the helpless sigh of a poet who is concerned about the country and the people, looking forward to the pleasant scenery of early spring.
