What are the creative characteristics of Tang poetry in the early Tang Dynasty?
The early Tang Dynasty was a period of change in Tang poetry. On the one hand, some court poets, such as Yu Shinan in the period of Emperor Taizong, Shangguan Yi in the period of Emperor Gaozong, Shen Quanqi and Song Zhi in the period of Emperor Wu of Han Dynasty, created a large number of court poems, which inherited and continued the magnificent poetic style since the Qi and Liang Dynasties. They made historic contributions to the finalization of the May 4th New Poetry. On the other hand, some middle-and lower-class literati have risen in succession, impacting the unification of the imperial literati. Their representatives are four outstanding figures in the early Tang Dynasty: Yang Jiong, Lu, Luo, Luo. They consciously criticized the writing style of the Six Dynasties, consciously expanded the content of poetry and created new styles. Four people criticized "Shangguanti" as "the backbone is exhausted, the spirit is not heard" and advocated "changing its disadvantages" (Preface to Yang Jiong and Wang Bo). Chen Ziang criticized the style of writing at that time as "adopting beauty to contend for complexity, but never being complicated" and advocated "the style of Han and Wei" (Preface to Zhu Embroidery). Chen Ziang (66 1 ~ 702)' s Thirty-eight Poems of Love, Seven Poems of Visiting Ancient and Autumn, Youzhou Tower, etc. Reflecting the reality, attacking the malpractices of the times, being bold and lofty in style, and going deep into the Han and Wei Dynasties had a great influence on cleaning up the legacy of the Six Dynasties and opened the way for the prosperity of poetry in the prosperous Tang Dynasty.
