During the Agrarian Revolutionary War, the Fourth Army of the Chinese Workers and Peasants Red Army rose in the Dabie Mountains, including western Anhui, and established a revolutionary base in Hubei, Henan and Anhui, which was famous at home and abroad. During the period of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, the Second Division, the Fourth Division, the Fifth Division and the Seventh Division of the New Fourth Army galloped across the Yangtze River and the Huaihe River, which made the Japanese aggressor troops terrified. During the War of Liberation, Liu Deng's army leapt thousands of miles into Dabie Mountain, which shocked the reactionary rule of Nanjing Kuomintang. In the subsequent Huaihai Campaign and the Battle of Crossing the River, Anhui people actively participated in the war and bravely supported the front line, making great contributions to overthrowing the reactionary Kuomintang government. After generations of sacrifices and struggles, the Anhui people, together with the people of all ethnic groups in China, ushered in the establishment of People's Republic of China (PRC). History is continuous, and today's Anhui is the continuation and development of yesterday's Anhui.
