Author's brief introduction. Zhu Ziqing (1898- 1948), formerly known as Huazi, was born with a string on his face and was named Qiushi. His articles such as Back, Hurriedness and Moonlight on the Lotus Pond are well-known, and his plain, simple, fresh and beautiful style has injected new vitality into modern prose.

Zhu Ziqing is not only a great prose writer, but also a poet, educator and rigorous scholar. He graduated from the philosophy department of Peking University and studied in Britain, specializing in linguistics and English literature. Later, he served as Professor Tsinghua University and head of the Chinese Department of National Southwest Associated University.
