One of the manifestations of the prosperity of Tang poetry is the perfection of genre. This includes three-character poems, four-character poems, five-character poems, six-character poems, seven-character poems, miscellaneous poems, ancient poems, Yuefu, regular poems and quatrains. However, until the Tang Dynasty, metrical poems and quatrains gradually matured. These two forms of poetry reached high artistic achievements and extensive influence in the Tang Dynasty.
Although miscellaneous poems also developed in the Tang Dynasty, their origins can be traced back to the pre-Qin period, and they were not a mature genre in the Tang Dynasty. Earlier forms of poetry, such as three-character poems and four-character poems, were still created in the Tang Dynasty, but they were not the mainstream.
Famous poets in Tang Dynasty:
