There are many Tang poems. According to the statistics of the Complete Poems of Tang Dynasty compiled during the reign of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty, there are 900 volumes of * *, including more than 2,200 poets and more than 48,900 poems. This collection is incomplete, and there are still many remnants. On the basis of absorbing the lost achievements of modern Tang poetry, Chen's Complete Supplement to Tang Poetry continued to collect more than 6,300 Yi poems in Tang and Five Dynasties. After Xu Jun's textual research on the remnants of Dunhuang poems, nearly a thousand Tang poems were newly compiled. These three books have collected about 55,000 poems of the Tang and Five Dynasties. And this is just a known poem, and we don't know how many are scattered.
The art of Tang poetry is exquisite, and its forms and styles are rich and colorful, bringing forth the old and bringing forth the new. There are not only great poets like Li Bai and Du Fu, but also a large number of outstanding poets such as Wang Wei, Meng Haoran, Bai Juyi, Han Yu, Liu Zongyuan, Liu Yuxi, Li He, Li Shangyin, Du Mu, Jia Dao and Qin Guan. Its overall level has also surpassed that of any time in China's history.
Tang poetry has a comprehensive genre. According to the previous statistics of poets who have more than one volume of poems in the whole Tang poetry, there are 7244 ancient poems with five or seven words, 92 quatrains with five or seven words10, 5774 quatrains with five or seven words 15474 and 2004 parallel poems.
? Tang poetry has a wide influence. The Tang Dynasty was an era of great popularity of poetry. Up to the emperors and princes, down to princes and ministers, down to Li Liu, Yu Ke and boys and girls, they all like poetry very much. Hu Yinglin said, "People, emperors, generals, courts, children, women, refugees and feather guests are unpredictable." It vividly shows that Tang poetry was widely circulated in various ways in the society at that time. Not only that, Tang poetry also spread to Japan, Korea, Vietnam and other neighboring countries, which had a far-reaching international impact.
From the above four aspects, we can see why Tang poetry has become an insurmountable peak in the history of China's poetry.
