-talk about my understanding.

? As for the interpretation of Chinese culture as a foreign language, I have written five articles, from A Random Talk on Chinese Culture as a Foreign Language to the learned Masayuki, and I also wrote an article "Paying Attention to the Power of Culture", which was put in the last article of my book "Crossing the Years of Foreign Languages". This article was also published in Henan Education. I want to read it, but Director Lu disagrees. Let me talk about it in combination with Professor Zhu Yongxin's report. I'll sort out my thoughts and seriously talk about my understanding and practice of "culture is the soul of a school". I hope it will inspire and help us. I am also grateful for this opportunity to carefully sort out the formation of Chinese and foreign cultures again. Because of time and space, I can only choose one point to talk about my views and practices.

? What is school culture? Professor Zhu Yongxin explained that school culture has the general characteristics of culture and its own stipulation. It is a special organizational culture, a vivid embodiment of school spirit, and a fundamental way for schools, students and teachers to survive and develop. Kent D.Peterson pointed out: "School culture is a set of norms, values and beliefs, ceremonies and ceremonies, symbols and deeds, which constitute a school's personality that distinguishes it from other schools. It is these unwritten factors that urge teachers, managers, parents and students to work together to solve problems and meet challenges and face failures over time. " Accordingly, we believe that school culture is the spiritual conversion of school organization members, and it is a collection of their recognized beliefs, concepts, languages, etiquette and life. It determines people's mission, value pursuit and development goals. At the same time, it is manifested in all educational behaviors (school festivals, ceremonies, celebrations, teaching, and various specific rules of conduct, etc.). ), various material carriers (buildings, logos, colors, greening, classrooms, desks, chairs, decorations, school uniforms, websites and even school logos, paper cups, etc. ) and all symbol systems (school motto).

? At the same time, Professor Zhu Yongxin also pointed out the formalism in the current school culture construction: in some schools, we have seen some false "school culture" that stays on the oral and paper. It is mainly manifested in three aspects, namely externalization, textualization and slogan. (1) externalization. We can see that many school buildings are very luxurious, modern and magnificent, just like hotels. However, if the school buildings, corridors, walls, courtyards, towers, bell towers, greening and other scenery do not really become the symbol of "culture", do not really become a part of the life and memory of teachers and students, and have no profound cultural connotation and educational significance, they are just a building, a pattern, a scene or just a decoration or display. (2) Textualization. We also see that many schools can produce complete ledgers and system texts when dealing with various inspections. However, if these systems only stay at the literal level, only for inspection and visit, and only stay on paper, they have not really become the power to regulate the behavior of school members, they are just soulless books and papers. (3) slogan. We also see that many schools try their best to make every wall "talking", and the walls are covered with various slogans. However, if these slogans are just hung on the lips, pasted on the walls and printed in brochures, they have not become the conscious pursuit of teachers and students, or even the direction of action is completely opposite to the connotation of slogans, they can only be external things that are outside the school culture.

? How to build school culture in foreign middle schools. According to the theory of cultural hierarchy, cultural hierarchy includes spiritual culture, material culture, institutional culture and behavioral culture. Combined with Professor Zhu Yongxin's interpretation, this paper takes foreign cultural construction as an example to analyze. The first is spiritual and cultural construction. From scratch to the establishment of cultural brands, foreign countries have gone through six years of hard work. Whenever I stand on campus, facing the rising sun and looking at the eight characters "erudite Masayuki, beyond poetry and books" hidden by bamboo, I always feel surge of emotion. These eight words, we used four stages and walked for six years. The first is the establishment of the target system, which shows that there is a skeleton outside. The establishment of the training goal of "combining arts and sciences, outstanding foreign languages and balanced development of those with elegant innovation ability" has made the development of foreign countries and China clear; The establishment of the management concept of "thought leads Excellence, team makes brilliant achievements" has given impetus to the development of Chinese and foreign enterprises; The establishment of the teacher development goal of "health, progress and happiness" has brought temperature to both the outside and the inside. The second step is the formation of the school motto system. Three years of development has laid a solid foundation for the ocean. At first, according to the training goal, the school motto of "liberal arts and good thinking, both wisdom and courage" was established, which endowed the development of foreign countries with soul. The school motto of foreign middle schools conforms to what Professor Zhu Yongxin said: "The school motto should have warning function, poetic expression, profound meaning and be consistent with the spiritual and cultural connotation of China." Guidance requirements. The third step is the establishment of spiritual system. By the fifth year, foreign middle schools have become famous. All teachers and students voted to establish the school spirit of "three styles" and "school spirit", "elegant and orderly, inspiring", "unity and cooperation, dedication and innovation, pursuit of Excellence" At this point, the cultural construction of foreign countries and China has formed a complete system, with flesh and blood, skeleton and soul. The fourth step is to establish a cultural brand of "erudite Masayuki, both inside and outside the poetry book". The cultural brand of a school is the shadow of all teachers and students. It is the display of students' achievements, students' behaviors, students' development and teachers' growth. At this point, the spiritual and cultural aspects of foreign cultural construction and China's cultural construction have all been completed. Of course, material culture, behavioral culture and institutional culture are also going on simultaneously.

? At the same time of the formation of spiritual culture, behavioral culture has also formed rapidly, and we have started the development and construction of "extensive courses" and "elegant courses". I saw the youthful spirit written by students in the school magazine March Wind. See the beautiful words written by President Jianxia, Xu He, Can Feng, Yan Feng and Zhitong; I saw that Qing Jiao and Xu He got the qualification of national second-class psychological counselors, and they volunteered to answer questions for students' growth in the school psychological counseling room every week; This conscious growth has gradually become beautiful. Our "Bo course" is guided by "smart classroom" and characterized by "four-ring heterogeneous teaching, all-in and all-out", forming different classroom models. The "elegant course" we developed for students' growth is more vivid and promotes the formation of teachers' and students' behavior habits. Under the guidance of the core concept of "elegant course" of "integration of knowledge and practice, elegant growth", we have done a lot of work with great concentration. From the construction of the road team to "entering the building is quiet, and learning when entering the class"; From the independent management of "everyone has something to do" to the integrity education of "integrity bookshelf"; From "reading before meals" to "classic reading" every afternoon; From the development of moral education books to the development and use of home-school textbooks; From "Weekly Moral Education Homework" to "Weekly Parents Open Day"; From "Boya Blues Radio" and "Boya Music Society"; From "basketball club" to "football club"; From "sunshine recess" to "monthly theme education activities"; From "class confrontation" to "the theme of graded education", the development of these courses makes moral education in foreign schools very distinctive and innovative. Especially after the big playground was put into use, the sunshine recess of "Dancing Youth and Dancing with Thousands of People" was abandoned and replaced by the sunshine recess of "Magic Foreign School". The scene was shocking, with great sports and visual effects, and won unanimous praise and affirmation, fully demonstrating the brand-new educational concept of "sports is moral education, sports is aesthetic education, and sports is management". The operation of "Honesty Bookshelf" and "Calligraphy Hobby Practice Table" has added concrete charm to the creation of scholarly campus. In fact, what is most worth mentioning is the opening course, graduation course and flag-raising ceremony course, which we have done vividly. As Teacher Li Zhenxi said, "We should first train a child into a qualified citizen, a husband, a wife and a child, and then train them into doctors, engineers and scientists." Foreign languages and Chinese have been doing. Let a child be a man, be grateful, learn, have feelings, have good habits, set out with the imprint of foreign languages and Chinese, and achieve a happy life for the child. This is the goal of our "elegant course" in recent years, and it is also the success and direction of our next efforts. It is these efforts, every day's efforts, that make our "behavior culture" outstanding and achieve an "elegant and orderly" beautiful campus. School spirit may be the most powerful embodiment of "behavior culture".

? The construction of material culture matches the construction of spiritual culture and behavioral culture. Material and cultural construction, from the outside to the inside, is also painstaking. From the creation of the big environment to the exquisite carving of the small landscape, we strive to achieve the environmental education atmosphere of "educating people everywhere and always keeping words and moistening things silently". The construction of campus environment is closely related to the theme of school motto. I once wrote a story about Yayuan, describing the beautiful scenery outside China, so I won't go into details here. We designed a campus color system with "Boya Blue" as the main color, from school uniforms to file boxes, notebooks, school-based textbook covers, cultural walls, school flags, class flags and so on. , are established according to the school color; We design the seventh grade as the cultural theme of "code of conduct", the eighth grade as the cultural theme of "gratitude and filial piety", and the ninth grade as the cultural theme of "youth inspiration". "Light blue, blue and dark blue" represent different colors of each grade respectively. From the design of the school emblem to the composition of the school song, we all collect from teachers and students; We set up integrity bookshelves, classroom storage racks, corridor bonsai corners, sanitation corners, calligraphy practice tables and so on. Carve the school environment from every detail, let the school material culture fully show the school spirit culture and promote the formation of behavior culture.

? When the spiritual culture is established, the behavioral culture is formed, the material culture is highlighted, and the institutional culture must be full and perfect. Through these years' efforts, the cultural construction in foreign countries and China has avoided the misunderstanding of "superficial, textual and slogan" mentioned by Professor Zhu Yongxin. It avoids the appearance of formalism in cultural construction and the phenomenon of "two skins" in which culture and behavior are separated. Make the cultures of "spirit, behavior, material and system" mutually integrate, develop and support each other, and make "learning Masayuki and learning poetry and books" become the pursuit of every foreigner and the vision of the school.

Of course, the construction of Chinese culture as a foreign language needs to be more detailed and thorough, such as creating a poetry school. Although we read Ancient Poems Necessary for Junior High School Students, The Analects of Confucius, The Classic of Tao Te Ching and Disciples' Rules in the morning recitation and afternoon reading respectively, we are still at a low stage and need further exploration, such as holding a "poetry conference" to promote students to fall in love with poetry and reading. The development of "Bo course" has a long way to go. In short, the development history of a school is a history of the formation of a learning culture, with only a beginning and no end. Culture is the soul of a school. A school with culture is full of energy, while a school without culture is a walking corpse. The formation of foreign culture is gradually formed from the bottom up. Of course, we can also do top-level design first and implement it step by step from top to bottom, but in any case, we must do it organically and guide teachers and students, not slogans on the wall.
