By the time they met, Li Bai had become famous and could be said to be the idol of thousands of fans, and Du Fu was undoubtedly one of them. Du Fu wrote many poems for Li Bai, and Li Bai also wrote some poems for his friends, such as Wang Lun and A Message to Meng Haoran. Is Li Bai really a heartless person? Actually, it is not.
First, the status of two people is very different.
In terms of age, although they became bosom friends, Du Fu was the afterlife after all, and Li Bai was Du Fu's predecessor, a famous predecessor. Not to mention the disparity in status, even if you write to your elders, they don't have to reply one by one. In terms of status, there is nothing wrong with this behavior. Li Bai wrote more letters to people of the same age or older than himself, such as his good friend Wang Lun, and wrote "Master, I sincerely salute you, and your reputation has risen to the sky" as a gift to Meng Haoran who is older than him. According to records, Meng Haoran's reply to Li Bai's poems and songs is also pitiful. It can be seen that it is normal for the seniors not to respond to the things written by the younger generation, not to say that Li Bai plays whoever is popular.
Second, Li Bai's personality makes it so.
Li Bai, the "Poet Fairy", was bohemian all his life, while Gao Made Lux took off his boots and despised the emperors and dignitaries. His character is beyond the common customs. His wish is to be happy in this world. For a poet like Li Bai, he may not take it to heart, or he thinks that friendship is in his heart and doesn't need so many twists and turns. Personally, I think Du Fu is sentimental and likes to record facts, which is why he has the title of "History of Poetry".
Three. problem left over by history
Many of Li Bai's poems are lost in the long river of history, so it is also a coincidence that "Reply to Du Fu" will be lost. This is a force majeure problem and there is no way to investigate it.
