Reflections on reading "Ye Jiaying on Du Fu's Poems" (1)

When I was a boy, I liked Li Bai more. I liked his free and easy way of "looking up to the sky and laughing out loud. How can I be a Penghao man?" "Li" is pretentious. Of course, I also like Du Fu's heroic ambition of "being at the top of the mountain and seeing all the small mountains", and appreciate the gorgeous colors in "the blue birds on the river are more than white, and the blue flowers on the mountains are about to burn". However, I lack a systematic understanding of Du Fu. Now I have a comprehensive understanding of Du Fu after reading the book "Ye Jiaying Talks about Du Fu's Poems" by teacher Ye Jiaying.

? When I was in high school, I liked to read Song poetry. At that time, I liked the sad and beautiful words and sentences: the clouds break through the moon and the flowers make shadows, people are thinner than yellow flowers, and golden partridges are painted on the screen. Clear words and beautiful sentences can easily bring people an intuitive sense of beauty. We modern people are too easily attracted to attention. Du Fu's poems are usually not beautiful, and they write about heavy realistic themes. In addition, today we are relatively far away from Du Fu's era. We have no worries about food and clothing, are addicted to social networks, and are busy making money to support our house. Du Fu's sorrow and joy are not something we can feel. Teacher Ye Jiaying is like a bridge connecting Du Fu in ancient times and us today. She used her classical cultivation to interpret Du Fu, used her life experience in war to get close to Du Fu, and used her innocent heart to understand Du Fu.

When talking about Du Fu, it is inevitable to compare him with Li Bai. Li Bai is flying and Du Fu is calm. Li Bai is a cloud flying into the sky, and Du Fu is a mountain standing firmly on the ground. Li Bai is a genius outside the norm. He is soaring and upward. There is an unstoppable energy in his poems. It is the ultimate glory of the Tang Dynasty. It is also the brilliance of the entire Chinese feudal society that has developed into its prime. ; And Du Fu is a genius within the standards. He is heavy and broad. There is a real and heavy power in his poems. It is an elegy for the entire prosperous Tang Dynasty that must decline at its peak, and it is also difficult to recover from the decline in the face of historical laws. Infinitely sad. Du Fu was frivolous in his early years, his official career ran into obstacles in his middle age, and he wandered endlessly in his later years. In a narrow sense, his life may have been a failure. So why can his poems be spread throughout the long history and be loved by people?

? Du Fu’s poems do not start from himself and express his feelings, but go deep into life and face life, loving beauty, lashing out ugliness, and not avoiding ugliness. His poems are not aesthetic, but seek truth. , is a poem made of blood and tears. Du Fu's greatness is because he was born in an era when he could combine all his achievements. He loved his country and nation with the same deep feelings as others treat love, and treated his feelings for the country and nation as well as the feelings of his family and wife. It is expressed in a profound and heavy way, which is an important reason why Du Fu is called the "Sage of Poetry".

? Looking at Du Fu's life, we will find that the Du Fu he became was not what he wanted to be. His life was constantly dealing with poverty, hunger, and disease, and the world was full of shortcomings for him. However, the Du Fu presented to us is complete, not just the highly simplified and labeled side of "concern for the country and the people, patriotism". He uses his writing about suffering to resist the simplification of people and protect the richness of himself.

Du Fu wrote in "Five Hundred Words of Empathy from Beijing to Fengxian County": "When I heard the cry at the entrance, my young son died of hunger." "I am ashamed to be a father, and I died young because I had no food." As soon as he entered the house, what he heard was not the laughter to welcome him, but the sound of the whole family wailing and crying. His youngest son died of hunger and cold. As a father, he was so ashamed that he had a child but could not raise him up. He had no food to eat, causing him to die of hunger and cold at such a young age. How sad and ashamed this must be. When most people write this, their family has suffered such a great misfortune. They should be completely overwhelmed by their own sorrow and no longer have the heart to care about others. But this is where Du Fu’s greatness lies.

Du Fu said: The common people are exempt from rent and tax, and their names are not subject to conquest. The traces of caressing are still sour and pungent, and the average person is solid and crumbly. When others write about their own sorrow, they write about their own sorrow, but Du Fu always associates his sorrow with the sorrow of others. He said that he was quite lucky because he was a scholar and belonged to the scholar class. He was still a minor official and did not have to pay rent and taxes like farmers in the countryside, nor did he have to serve as a soldier. But for a person like him who was exempted from rent, tax and conquest, it was so sad to experience famine personally, let alone the common people? Du Fu is such a great realistic poet. He thought of the misfortune of more people across the country who were poorer than him from his own misfortune. His poems are not only about himself, but also about the country and its people. Therefore, I also further understood his ideal of "to serve the kings Yao and Shun, and then to make the folk customs pure."

In this world, some people are indeed born to save the suffering of the masses. A poet like Du Fu who cared about the country and the people, although he failed to bring any positive influence to the government at that time, his poems have been passed down and influenced countless people along with his spirit. Only by reading Du's poems after having a certain amount of life experience can we have a deeper understanding of his generosity and love, and his deep love for his country.

Walk into Du Fu, walk into the poet saint, or just pay tribute to him as an ordinary person in life.

Not because of his brilliant literary talent, but because he can paint such rich colors in such a dark background, and can grow such gorgeous flowers in such barren soil. His perseverance and power to dig out life are admirable. Endless!
