How did the poems and songs of the Song Dynasty develop?

Song poetry is another important stage in the development of China's classical poetry after Tang poetry. According to Chronicle of Song Dynasty and Supplement to Chronicle of Song Dynasty, there are more than 6,800 writers. The total amount of poetry is also several times higher than that of the whole Tang poetry. A number of outstanding poets such as Mei, Ouyang Xiu, Su Shi, Wang Anshi, Huang Tingjian, Chen, Lu You, Fan Chengda and Yang Wanli have emerged. So far, there have been many well-known masterpieces. Although the overall achievement of Song poetry is not as good as that of Tang poetry, under the condition that Tang poetry has reached its peak, Song poetry can find another way, form its own characteristics, and sing a Song tune that distinguishes the sounds of Tang. Its achievements and characteristics can not be ignored. Due to the specific social conditions in the Song Dynasty, Song poetry has formed the characteristics of "extensive materials, new ideas", writing as poetry, discussion as poetry, more patriotic poems and less love poems.
