Appreciation:

Silkworm Woman is a five-character quatrain written by Zhang Yu, a poet in the Song Dynasty, which reflects the sufferings of people's lives. This poem reveals the shocking social reality that "the exploiters get what they get for nothing, and the laborers have nothing to eat" through what the peasant women who are engaged in sericulture see and feel when they go into the city to sell silk, and shows the poet's sympathy for the working people and dissatisfaction with the oppression and exploitation of the ruling class.

The first two sentences of the poem describe the sadness of the silkworm woman, and the "full of tears" shows the deep emotional stimulation of the silkworm woman. Three or four sentences reveal the reason why silkworm women are sad, which is the unreasonable social reality of getting something for nothing and getting something for nothing. Although the work is objectively described without comment, the sympathy for the fate of silkworm women and the injustice to society are infiltrated into the poem, which makes people think. The structure of the poem is simple, the language is simple, and it hits the nail on the head. This poem, together with Li Shen's poem "Mowing the grain at noon every day", can be called China's masterpiece.
