According to legend, ordinary fish can't survive because of the turbidity of the Yellow River. Only the pollution-resistant carp grows very well, and because its growing environment is yellow muddy water, the yellow carp will grow golden scales. The ancients found that every spring, these golden carp would swim against the current and form a jumping group in Longmen. However, above the waterfall, because of the rapid current, no fish can board, so the ancients imagined that these golden carp would become dragons after jumping over the Longmen. Yuelongmen, a carp, is used to describe hard-working, indomitable, daring to think and dream. After the implementation of the imperial examination system, Longmen was used as a metaphor for the imperial examination, so it has a sacred position in the hearts of China people.
The legend of "Carp yue longmen" has spread to this day, and it has also influenced Japanese and other places. Japanese custom hangs carp flags on boys' day, hoping that children will grow up healthily and leap over the dragon gate like carp.
The story of Dayu chiseling the gate and carp climbing the dragon is widely circulated among the people, and it is recorded in ancient books such as Shui Jing Zhu and San Qin Zhi. "Taiping Guangji" Volume 466 "Longmen" quoted "Sanqin Ji": "Longmen Mountain is in the east of the river. It's more than a mile wide to break the door in Chishao Mountain. The Yellow River flows downstream, and there is no traffic between the two sides ... In Ji Chun, yellow carp come and go from the sea and Sichuan every year. He who comes to the door at the age of one is only 72. When I first boarded the Longmen, the clouds and rain followed, and the sky fire burned its tail from behind and turned into a dragon. " And Shu's "Three" goes back to the cloud: "There are thousands of big fish under the Longmen River, so you can't go up. The dragon is on the table, the fish is not on the table, and the clouds are exposed to the dragon. " The folklore of later generations is called carp jumping at the dragon gate. Tang Li Bai's poem "To Cui": "The Yellow River three-foot carp was originally there, but it failed to make it, and all the fish returned." That is, with this code. People also use the metaphor of "going to Longmen" to show their brilliance, because it is quoted by powerful people. In the imperial examination era, people who took the exam and won the fame of Jinshi were also called "boarding the Dragon Gate". Yue longmen, a carp, is not only an image expression of this beautiful legend, but also a good wish for leap and good luck. Especially those families who expect their children to gain fame and fortune through studies and exams regard it as a symbol of luck.
