Why did Emperor Jiaqing not pull out the arrow inserted on the "Longzongmen" plaque in the Forbidden City?

If you don't pay attention to the Forbidden City, you won't notice an arrow on the plaque of Longzongmen in the Forbidden City. The reason why this arrow was left over from Jiaqing period of Qing Dynasty is mainly based on the records in the Draft of Qing History.

In people's usual impression, the Forbidden City in Beijing, as the residence of the emperors of Ming and Qing Dynasties, must be a heavily guarded place. It is difficult for a single assassin to get in, let alone a team of dozens or hundreds of people breaking into the Forbidden City. I'm afraid that in most cases, before approaching the Forbidden City, it was taken by the imperial guards guarding the Forbidden City.

However, this kind of thing happened during the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty.

"Qing History Draft Renzong" records: "Dozens of traitors Chen Shuang broke into the Forbidden City and drove the Imperial Palace away. The emperor's second son killed one of them with a gun ... Wang led Ruijun into the Firearms Camp and was arrested." Renzong in Qing Dynasty was Emperor Jiaqing.

"History of Xuanzong in the Qing Dynasty" records: "In September of the eighteenth year (Jiaqing), I went back to the capital in the autumn to teach the bandits Lin Qing Party to make changes. It was this month ... that the thief entered the right door, arrived in the south of hall of mental cultivation, and tried to escape to the north. The court shot two thieves, and the rest of the thieves dispersed, and the chaos was settled. " Xuanzong in the Qing Dynasty was Daoguang.

It turned out that in September of the 18th year of Jiaqing (18 13), Emperor Jiaqing took his clan officials to Mulan paddock for an autumn outing. The Forbidden City is empty, and Tian Li, the branch of Anbaili School in Beijing, thinks this is the best time to launch an uprising and attack the Forbidden City. Led by the leader Lin Qing, they bribed the eunuchs in the Forbidden City and entered the Forbidden City.

Among them, the congregation 100 people entered from Donghuamen and killed all the way to Jingyunmen, which was blocked. Another team of 100 people entered from Xihuamen and attacked Longzongmen all the way.

Jingyunmen and Longzongmen are important gateways to isolate the inner and outer courtyards, and the inner palace where the emperor and his concubines live is the target of attack. Usually, princes and ministers are not allowed to enter without permission. Fortunately, Daoguang, who was not enthroned, came back from Mulan paddock in advance, and led everyone to resist Tianjin's attack in the palace. Subsequently, the imperial army came to quell the cult attack in Tianjin.

Emperor Jiaqing returned to the Forbidden City and was very angry when he heard the news. He ordered people to go to the arrow shaft and left the arrow inserted on the plaque as a warning. This is why Jiaqing won't let the arrow be pulled out. To this end, Emperor Jiaqing also invited his own guilt, saying that the change of the Forbidden City "caused something that did not happen in the Han, Tang, Song and Ming Dynasties".

Based on this calculation, it has been more than 200 years since this arrow was shot into the Longzongmen plaque.

However, after visiting experts in literature and history and looking up ancient books and history books, I think this arrow may not be left over from Jiaqing years. According to the memories of the old workers in charge of cleaning and repairing Longzongmen in 1950s, there were many arrows on the doorframe, plaque and rafters of Longzongmen at that time. Arrows in conspicuous positions such as door frames have been pulled out and repaired.

The arrow left on the gate of Zong Long, besides the one on the plaque, also has an arrow left on the rafter. It shows that what the old worker said is credible. In the subsequent restoration, adhering to the principle of repairing the old as the old, these arrows were left. This shows that these arrows are probably not left by Shinrikyo people when they attacked the Forbidden City. Because there is no need to leave so many arrows as a warning, it is really indecent.

Therefore, experts speculate that these arrows were probably left behind by some imperial clan children after the demise of the Qing Dynasty. Especially when he was ordered to move out of the Forbidden City, he didn't have the heart to tidy up these arrows, so he was left out for a long time.
