Translation:
The north wind swept the earth and scattered the white grass. It began to snow in Alakazam in August. Suddenly, it was like a spring breeze blowing overnight, as if thousands of trees and pears were in full bloom. Snow fell into the bead curtain and wet the curtain, and the fox fur was too thin to put on the warm brocade quilt.
Poetry appreciation
In the thirteenth year of Tianbao, the author went to Luntai to be the judge of Feng Changqing, the ambassador of Anxi North Court. This poem was written by Liu when he sent his judge back to Beijing. The poem describes the farewell scene from the wonderful scenery of ice and snow outside the Great Wall, with snow as the clue throughout, which is varied and distinct, and the author's complicated farewell feelings among the guests are also conveyed incisively and vividly.
This poem is imaginative, colorful and full of romantic feelings. The phrase "like spring breeze, when night comes, it blows open the petals of ten thousand pear trees" has become an eternal famous sentence praising snow. Fang Qing Shu Dong commented: "The six sentences in Suddenly Like are amazing, strange and refreshing."
