Ancient books in Wakhan corridor

If you don't elaborate, you may not realize that there is a border between China and Afghanistan. The border between China and Afghanistan is 92.45 kilometers long. This was decided after the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in the 1960s. However, from the map, the border between Afghanistan and China actually has a long and narrow strip. Tajikistan and Pakistan are on both sides of this narrow strip.

This is the famous transportation hub of the Silk Road in history. The history of the Wakhan Corridor can be traced back to the 6th century BC. In 399 AD, Fa Xian, a famous monk in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, passed by here and recorded the scenery here in his travel notes. In the Tang Dynasty, the Wakhan Corridor was still open, and it was also a famous traffic artery on the Silk Road. It was not until the rise of Tubo that this corridor was established.

After the Yuan Dynasty, due to the vast territory of the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, the Pamirs was under the jurisdiction of China at that time, so it naturally included this passage. In fact, however, because the Silk Road has long been closed, this famous ancient road has been abandoned for many years. Although China was incompetent in the late Qing Dynasty and ceded many territories, it was always under the jurisdiction of China, including the Wakhan Corridor.

I once read a story that after the founding of New China, the People's Liberation Army found Kuomintang troops stationed in the most northwest border area of China. They are in rags, even their guns and ammunition are old, but no one has given up this place. In fact, this place refers to the border post in the Wakhan Corridor. We should know that the international situation here was very complicated during the Republic of China, but the posts stationed here did not give up and made contributions to safeguarding the territorial integrity of the motherland.

With the determination of China-Arab border, it is not only China but also the people of Central Asian countries to restore the Silk Road and open up the main traffic routes between China and Central Asian countries. You know, if a road can be built by using the Wakhan Corridor, it will be very convenient for this road to lead to Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Pakistan, but the borders between the two countries have been determined for so many years, but they have never been built here.

It's not because I don't want to, but for various practical reasons. Although the Wakhan Corridor is a valley, the terrain is complex, and more than 90 kilometers in China are flat. However, the geographical environment of the Wakhan Corridor in Afghanistan is not conducive to road construction, especially in various mountainous areas, where the average elevation exceeds 1000 meters. Another factor is the unstable situation in Afghanistan itself. Once the road is completed, the riots are likely to spread to China. For this reason, the road in the Wakhan Corridor can only be postponed indefinitely. Now we have no other means of transportation except flying to Afghanistan.
