Two kinds of deep-sea "squid" sea monsters
We have to start with two kinds of squid sea monsters. King squid is a kind of squid-king squid-king squid. It mainly lives in the deep sea of the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean, and is mainly distributed in the waters with a water depth of 300 meters to 3 100 meters. The picture below shows the place where the red dot was found, and the place where the squid was found was marked.
Scientists estimate that the total length of adult male squid, including tentacles, can reach about 14m ~ 20m, and only tentacles can exceed 10m. It is known as one of the largest invertebrates in the world together with squid and Physalis alkekengi. (What needs to be added here is that both the living sea area and the body shape are actually based on the current findings. The number of King Squid and King Physalis is extremely limited, mainly because they live in the deep sea. )
According to the current research results, there is still a gap between the weight of squid and the king's sour pulp. Royal Jelly is a kind of composite-Ophiopogonidae-malachite-royal Jelly-royal Jelly.
The scientific name of Sauerkraut King is actually Giant Squid with Chinese Claw. According to the current findings, the king of pickled cabbage mainly lives in the waters near Antarctica. They also like to haunt the deep sea, mainly living in the water depth 1000~2000 meters.
Although its weight is heavy, the maximum can reach 750 kilograms, but in fact its length is not longer than that of the king squid, about 6- 18 meters. Compared with humans, the king squid and the king squid are much bigger. (The squid in the green frame below is the king squid, and the squid in the red frame is the king squid. )
Both the king squid and the king squid can be said to be the top predators in the deep sea, mainly relying on hunting large deep-sea fish and other cephalopods for a living. Through the discovery of fishermen's fishing at present, we know that squid is a very cruel carnivore. They will catch the target prey with their long tentacles, then hold the sides of the prey with serrated suction cups, send it to their mouths, and then cut the prey into pieces with their beaks.
As for the predation mode of the king squid, we still don't know. Scientists speculate that their predation mode should be similar to that of the king squid, and their prey is similar, mainly deep-sea fish.
In principle, King Squid and King Soup Squid are big enough to be the top predators in the deep sea. They should have no natural enemies, but in fact they have the same natural enemy, that is, sperm whales.
The natural enemy of squid sea monster: sperm whale
Sperm whales are the largest toothed whales in the world. They are obviously hermaphroditic, and the males are bigger. The average length of adult male sperm whales is14 ~16m, and the weight is about 40~45 tons, while the average length of adult female sperm whales is10 ~1m.
Sperm whales are widely distributed and can be seen in the three oceans of the world. They are widely distributed in the world's ice-free waters, and scientists have found them at the equator and the South Pole.
More crucially, sperm whales often appear in water with water depth 1000 meters. In other words, the deep sea frequented by sperm whales is also the sea frequented by king squid and king soup squid. Sperm whales also like to feed in the deep sea. They like squid very much, and mainly feed on various squid and deep-sea fish. Female sperm whales like to catch squid weighing between 0. 1 and 10 kg, and occasionally prey on large squid; Males also like to catch squid, but they prefer big squid. Therefore, king squid and king soup squid are naturally included in the sperm whale's diet.
Although both King Squid and King Soup Squid are very big and long, a large part of their body length is tentacles, weighing less than 1 ton, which is a little smaller than sperm whales, so they are naturally no match for sperm whales. Scientists have found a complete king squid in the stomach carrying sperm whales. This king squid has a body length of12m and a weight of 200kg. Scratches similar to those of the king squid were also found on the mouth and body of the sperm whale. It can be inferred that the king squid was eaten after fighting with the sperm whale. Some people speculate that sperm whales like to eat king squid and king squid mainly because they are invertebrates, have no bones, taste delicious, and even evolved excellent diving ability. You know, in the diet of sperm whales, bony fish only account for a small proportion.
