Did zombies really appear in ancient China? Is there any scientific basis? Is this the same as in Ching-Ying Lam's movies?
There is a historical record of "corpse change" in the Southern Tang Dynasty, but there is no mention of "zombie". The word "zombie" appeared in large numbers in the Qing Dynasty, especially in Yuan Mei's Zi Wuyu and Ji Xiaolan's Notes on Yuewei Caotang. The word "zombie" can be said to be invented by literary novelists and has no scientific basis. Most of the "zombie" images in Hong Kong movies appear in the official uniforms of the Qing Dynasty. This may be because the Qing government ceded Hong Kong to Britain, so Hong Kong people hate it even more.
