Historical evolution of Xixia mausoleum

1038, Tangut leader Li Yuanhao established Xixia. He moved his grandfather Li and his father Li Deming to the eastern foot of Helan Mountain, where Li was in Yuling and Li Deming was in Jialing. Since then, during the existence of Xixia Kingdom, every emperor except Li Zunxu, Li and Li Gang recorded a clear name of the mausoleum, but did not record the specific location of burial.

1227, Xixia was destroyed by Mongolia. At the end of Xixia, the master Li Gang surrendered and was killed soon after. The burial place is unknown, and Xixia perished. Since then, the tomb of Xixia has been seriously damaged by Mongolian troops. During the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty, the Xixia Mausoleum was discovered by the Ming government, and it has always been concluded that it is the Xixia Mausoleum.

1938, German pilot Ulf Dieter Graf Chu Kaster compiled his aerial photos in China into a book "Flying in China", in which the Xixia Mausoleum appeared in the photos taken in Yinchuan.

1949, after the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), the local cultural relics management department once thought that Xixia Mausoleum was the tomb of the Tang Dynasty. 1972, National Cultural Heritage Administration, China officially made the decision to excavate the Xixia Mausoleum. The person in charge of this excavation activity is Wang, and the exhibition hall of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region undertakes the main excavation work of Xixia Mausoleum. As of 20 14, the owner of tomb No.7 has been confirmed, and the owner of tomb No.8 182 is Liang. The exact evidence of the identity of other tombs is still being excavated.

1988, People's Republic of China (PRC) and the State Council listed the Xixia Mausoleum as a national key cultural relics protection unit.

20 1 1 In July, National Cultural Heritage Administration signed the Ningxia Cultural Heritage Cooperation Framework Agreement with the People's Government of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. On this basis, in 20 15, National Cultural Heritage Administration further declared the Xixia Mausoleum as a world cultural heritage as a key support project.
