Introduction to Cheng Gaoben's Version

Cheng Jiaben, the first officially published typography in the edition history and communication history of A Dream of Red Mansions. The preface of elevation clearly explains Cheng Jiaben's writing process. Cheng Xiaoquan said that he got the first 120 volume, the first 80 chapters, and then several years later, he got the last 40 chapters one after another. After he and his friend Gao Lanshu "carefully added and deleted, learning from each other's strengths", they merged the first eighty into one, "copied them all and made them into a block print". It can be seen that the manuscript they adopted consists of two parts: the first 80 chapters and the last 40 chapters, and the finishing work lasted for nearly one year from the spring of 19 1 1 year to the calendar.

Cheng Jiaben published 120 volumes, which made up for the shortcoming that there were only 80 volumes of Dragon in the manuscript period. Since then, most of the engravings have been based on Cheng Jiaben, such as Hua Teng Xie Ben, Ben Ya Cang Ben, Dong Guan Ge Ben, Shuang Qing Xian Guan Ben, Miao Fu Selected Ben, Wo Yun Shan Guan Ben, Yu Jin Ben Yuan, etc., forming the so-called "Cheng Ben system".

There are ten Yu Ben in Cheng Jiaben, and the National Library (including two), the Institute of Literature of China Academy of Social Sciences, Peking University, People's Daily, Taiwan Province Provincial University and some private individuals have this book. In addition, there are several collections abroad (such as Russia and Japan). There are four kinds of photocopies published after the founding of the People's Republic of China: Beijing Library Press (formerly Bibliographic Literature Publishing House) 1992 Edition (three volumes published in 2005); Beijing Library Press 200 1 Edition; Jilin literature and history 2000 online edition; It seems to be a reprint of Jilin literature and history edition Shenyang edition. Cheng Jiaben is typesetting with wooden movable type. Limited by the technical conditions of wooden movable type printing at that time, it is estimated that only about 100 copies were printed. Cheng Jiaben was printed with movable type more than 70 days later. Cheng Yiben has been ignored for a long time, but Cheng Jiaben has been repeatedly engraved and has been popular for more than 30 years/kloc-0. It was not until 1927 that Hu Shi punctuated Cheng Yiben and published it by Shanghai Yadong Library that Cheng Yiben replaced Cheng Jiaben and became the most popular version.

Cheng Yiben has exactly the same layout and illustrations as Cheng Jiaben, but the text has more than 20,000 words and an "introduction" jointly signed by Cheng Weiyuan and Gao E. This book has more prints than Cheng Jiaben, and is owned by the National Library, China Bookstore, Shandong Library, Hangzhou Library, Shaoxing Library, Shanghai Library and some private individuals.
