According to Baidu Encyclopedia, the Potala Palace was built in the 7th century AD during the period of Songzan Gambu, the Tibetan king, with a history of 1300 years. The whole palace is in Tibetan style, with a height of more than 200 meters. The appearance is 13 floors, but actually there are only 9 floors. Because it is built on the hillside, a large area of stone walls stand like cliffs, making the building look integrated with the hills and magnificent.
Visiting the Potala Palace needs to follow all the taboos of Tibetan Buddhism, such as not wearing a hat, not taking photos (referring to taking some "outdoor photos" outside the palace after entering the palace), not stepping on the threshold and so on. All visitors need to complete the visit within 1 hour, so they are not allowed to stay anywhere in the palace. After the visit, they will come out from the west gate of Potala Palace, walk down the mountain and come to the main gate of Potala Palace.
