Where is Izumo country? Did this place exist in ancient times?

Shimane Prefecture, Japan, was called Izumo in ancient times. There are many myths and legends about Izumo country in ancient books such as Ancient Stories and Records of Japan, which is also called the land of myths. Shimane Prefecture is a county facing the Sea of Japan with a long and narrow terrain. The inland side is mostly mountainous, and densely populated areas are distributed along the line of the Sea of Japan. From north to south, it is divided into four gathering areas, except Songjiang, Izumo, Hamada and Yitian, and there are hidden islands on the sea.
