Even when they were running out of ammunition and food, they still persisted in fighting the enemy. In the end, there was only one wounded man left on the battlefield, and this was Zhu Yanfu.

Zhu Yanfu, male, Han nationality, was born in Zhangjiaquan Village, Yiyuan County in July 1933. He is a member of the Communist Party of China and served as the former party branch secretary of Zhangjiaquan Village, Xili Town, Yiyuan County, Shandong Province. He has no limbs, no left eye, and the vision of his right eye is only 0.3. He has never been to school, but he has participated in hundreds of battles, performed three meritorious services, been injured ten times, and has undergone 47 surgeries.

After retiring from the army, he dragged his disabled body to lead the villagers to build their homes, and wrote his own experiences into novels. He wrote his "extreme life" with his strong will and feelings for the people, and was known as "China's Paul Korchagin".
