Confucianism and the implementation process of Tibet

The project of "Confucianism and Tibetan Studies" is huge, and it is by no means a single unit can complete it alone. However, there are many advantages for Peking University to organize this project. Peking University has a strong research force and a tradition of inheriting Chinese culture, and has strong advantages in humanities, history, philosophy, archaeology and library. Peking University has gathered a group of professionals and famous scholars who are engaged in the teaching and research of Confucianism, and has completed and published many Confucian works over the years, which has a strong strength in collating ancient books and a good research foundation. The rare books of ancient books collected in Peking University Library are rich and refined, which can provide about 70% books for the compilation of Confucian books. It has a good cooperative relationship with major ancient book collections at home and abroad, and has signed a cooperation agreement with the National Library for the compilation of Confucian books. At the same time, Peking University has extensive and close ties with academic circles at home and abroad, with strong appeal and cohesion. The project of Confucianism and Tibet has been supported and participated by scholars at home and abroad. At present, Peking University has joined 34 universities and research institutions at home and abroad, with nearly 300 domestic and foreign scholars participating, and completed the key project of "Compilation and Research of Confucianism and Tibetan Studies".

Peking University leaders and departments at all levels have given strong support to the Confucianism and Tibetan studies project. In May 2003, Peking University established the "Steering Committee for the Compilation and Research of Confucianism in Peking University", with Mr. Ji Xianlin as the honorary director, President Xu Zhihong as the director, Vice President Wu as the deputy director and Mr. Tang as the executive deputy director, responsible for the evaluation of the plan and achievements of the Confucianism compilation and research project, the evaluation of work progress and the supervision of funds. At the same time, a "Working Group on the Compilation of Confucianism in Peking University" was established, headed by Mr. Tang and Vice President Wu (succeeded by Vice President Zhang in 2007) and composed of experts and scholars from Chinese Department, History Department, Philosophy Department and Library of Peking University. Responsible for project planning, business consulting and research on major issues. In June, 2004, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Peking University established the entity "Peking University Research and Compilation Center for Confucianism and Tibetan Studies", which is responsible for organizing and implementing Confucianism and Tibetan research projects.

After many consultations, an editorial board of "Essence of Confucianism" has been formed, with Mr. Ji Xianlin as the chief editor, Tang (the chief expert of the project), Sun Qinshan and An Pingqiu as the chief editors, including nearly 100 experts and scholars from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Vietnam, France, the United States and other countries and regions as the editorial board. And hired Zong Qinghou (Hong Kong), Ren, Lai, Zhu Bokun, Xiao Yuefu, Huang Yongnian, Wang Demai (France), Tokugawa Yoshiro (Japan), Liu (Korea), Jin Zhonglie (Korea), Cui Gende (Korea) and so on. At the same time, a peer review expert group with senior editing experience in ancient books collation was established, including Zhonghua Book Company, People's Literature Publishing House and Shanghai Ancient Books Publishing House.

Peking University held several meetings of the editorial board and department chief editors of Confucianism and Tibetan for academic discussion and experience exchange. At the same time, contact scholars from South Korea, Japan and Vietnam, set up an editing organization, and start compiling overseas Confucian and Tibetan documents.
