Application procedures for private museums

Legal analysis: To apply for the establishment of a museum, the municipal (county) cultural relics administrative department where the museum is located shall submit the following materials to the provincial cultural relics administrative department after preliminary examination:

(1) An application for establishing a museum;

(two) proof of the ownership or right to use the house;

(three) proof of the source of funds or capital verification report;

(four) the catalogue of the collection and the description of the legal source;

(5) exhibition outline;

(6) Basic information and identity certificate of the legal representative to be appointed;

(seven) certification materials of professional technical and management personnel.

Legal basis: Article 9 of the Measures for the Administration of Museums To apply for the establishment of a museum, the following conditions shall be met:

(1) Having a fixed museum site, and setting up special exhibition halls (rooms), warehouses and technical sites for cultural relics protection. The exhibition hall (room) area is suitable for the exhibition scale, and the exhibition environment is suitable for the public;

(two) there are necessary funds to run the museum and ensure the operation of the museum;

(3) Having a certain number of systematic collections and necessary research materials that meet the purpose of running the museum;

(4) Having professional technical and managerial personnel suitable for the purpose of running the library;

(five) there are safety and fire control facilities that meet the requirements of the state;

(6) Being able to bear civil liability independently.
