Couplets vary in length, only one or two words are short; It can be hundreds of words long. There are various forms of couplets, such as pairs, pairs, flowing pairs, couplets, set sentence pairs and so on. But no matter what kind of couplets are used, they must have the following characteristics:
1, the number of words is equal, and the content is related. From the content point of view, the contents of the next couplet should be related and play an opposite or complementary role.
2. The parts of speech are equivalent and the structure is commensurate. These are the two grammatical elements of couplets, and they are also the two most critical elements. For example, five senses are empty and free, and one mind is not chaotic.
3, the rhythm corresponds, flat and harmonious. These are the two metrical elements of couplets. Rhythm is a musical term, which refers to the phenomenon of regular alternation of strength and length in music.
