Liang Zhangju of the Qing Dynasty described a folklore in The Water Margin: A rich man gave birth to a daughter. At the full moon, the rich man brewed several jars of wine and hid them in the wine cellar. 18 years later, when the daughter got married, the rune took out the wine and painted the dragon and phoenix, flowers, full moon and other festive patterns outside the jar. Because there are beautiful colorful patterns on the outside of the jar, people call this wine carved with flowers.

According to records, Huadiao wine originated in Dawenkou culture period 6000 years ago, which represents the long-standing wine culture in China. Liang Zhangju of the Qing Dynasty described a folklore in The Water Margin: It is said that a rich man gave birth to a daughter. At the full moon, the rich man brewed several jars of wine and hid them in the wine cellar. 18 years later, when the daughter was going to get married, the rune took out the wine stored at that time and painted festive patterns such as "Lucky Dragon and Phoenix", "Spend the Full Moon" and "Send Guanyin to my son" outside the jar as a dowry for her daughter. Because there are beautiful colorful patterns on the outside of the jar, people call this wine "flower carving". Since then, "flower carving" has become synonymous with Shaoxing children. Today, if someone gives birth to a daughter, people will call it "Congratulations on the entrance of the flower carving" (the dowry of the man). Later, even a boy was born, and he made wine and buried wine as planned, hoping that his son would win the first prize to celebrate drinking. Therefore, carved wine is also called "Zhuangyuanhong".
