In recent years, under the correct leadership of the Party Committee and the higher authorities and the strong support of the relevant departments, Putian Library has strived for the conditions of building a library, actively improved the borrowing environment, started the comprehensive automatic management system, opened the "one-card" service of city and county libraries, established more than 40 mobile stacks and their service points in the new countryside, built an urban and rural service network, extended the service scope, made full use of the collected literature resources, actively disseminated scientific and cultural knowledge and carried out colorful reading activities. It has been rated as a national third-class library by the Ministry of Culture twice in a row, as an advanced collective of the province's cultural system by the Fujian Provincial Department of Culture and the Personnel Department, and as an advanced unit of the province's ancient book protection work by the Fujian Provincial Department of Culture.
In order to meet the needs of Putian's economic construction and social development, the new library of Putian City started construction on 20110. The new museum is located in Yuhu area beside Mulan River, with a total construction area of 30,095.92 square meters, including five floors above ground with a construction area of 24,976.2 square meters and underground with a construction area of 5 1 19.72 square meters.
The layout of the new library includes computer network center room, document resource processing area, general document reading area, newspaper reading area, electronic document service area, information consulting service area, book self-service lending area, children's reading area, disabled readers' reading room, readers' discussion and learning area, public activity area and administrative office. The designed collection capacity is 6.5438+0.35 million volumes (pieces) and 654.38+0.200 reading seats, which integrates "hiding, borrowing, reading, inquiring and managing". Putian Library, as a non-profit cultural service organization for collecting, sorting, preserving, disseminating and utilizing documents, is mainly responsible for disseminating scientific and cultural knowledge for the public, providing knowledge education and convenient and equal public cultural services for the people, organizing, implementing and coordinating the city's cultural information resource sharing project and ancient books protection project, and guiding the business construction of libraries (rooms) at all levels in the city. The new museum is a new modern cultural facility built by the municipal government for the public. Adhering to the principle of "practicality, openness, flexibility and beauty", it has novel design, reasonable layout, complete functions and convenient management. It has become a reading activity center and information distribution center for the general public in Putian, complementing the neighboring science and technology museums and youth palaces, forming a new landmark of Putian cultural service system and promoting the great development and prosperity of Putian culture.
