East Sichuan trip 1: Hejiang Yaoba

Take the Yuhuan Expressway from Tanghe, Chongqing, and enter Hejiang, Sichuan. There is an ancient town called Yaoba in Hejiang. I think of my trip to eastern Sichuan during the Spring Festival in 2014, which started from Yaoba. Now I have entered the "memory mode" and talk about the "trip to eastern Sichuan"——

The four-day trip during the Spring Festival covers 1,300 kilometers, and the self-driving trip from After traveling from Chengdu to Lu, the Chengdu-Chongqing line returned and visited Hejiang Yaoba Ancient Town, Fubao Ancient Town, Tiantangba National Forest Park in Luzhou in southern Sichuan, Dongxi Ancient Town in Qijiang, Chongqing in eastern Sichuan, and Yunding Village in Longchang. I traveled on the second day of the Lunar New Year and came back in time for the evening of the fifth day of the Lunar New Year, successfully avoiding the rush hour for travel and return.

The Cheng (Du) Zig (Gong) Lu (Prefecture) Expressway was surprisingly smooth, and it took only 3 hours to reach Luzhou. Along the way, I heard from "Private Car 925" that the Jinma section of the Wenqiong Expressway was temporarily closed due to heavy fog. Fortunately, the Chengzi-Lu Expressway section was always in mist and the visibility was okay. There was nothing else but rural scenery along the way, but from time to time I saw dogs and cats that were killed or even crushed. I couldn't bear it until I became numb...

This plan went straight to completion We took the Chongqing Ring Expressway to Yaoba. We entered this beautiful city in order to visit Luzhou, and then were guided to the provincial highway leading to Yaoba (the road section is relatively close). At this time, we discovered that this road was actually pretty bad. We went "off-road" (and luckily it was an SUV) to the Foyin exit of the Dayu Ring Expressway (unfortunately, we did not take the expressway) and stopped at about 1:30 p.m. Rested and ate some of the "car meal" prepared in the morning (fried rice in a warm pot). Set off again and arrived at Yaoba in less than half an hour.

Yaoba Ancient Town has a long history and is one of the earliest six ancient villages and eight ancient towns in Hejiang. Yaoba Ancient Town is located at the junction of southern Sichuan and northern Guizhou, 37 kilometers away from Hejiang County, 22 kilometers away from Luzhou City, 27 kilometers away from Chishui City, Guizhou Province, 310 kilometers away from the provincial capital Chengdu, and 210 kilometers away from Chongqing. The best place to combine, with a history of 2,000 years, is a post station on the Sichuan-Guizhou transportation artery. It is the only way from Jiangyang to Yelang Kingdom in ancient times, and is known as the "Sichuan-Guizhou Corridor". When there was no road between Luzhou and Chishui, merchants and official letters from southern Sichuan and northern Guizhou all passed through Yaoba to Chishui, and must stop at Yaoba. The official built Yaoba Station, where various traders gathered, with a complete range of goods and a prosperous market. , famous far and wide.

Yaoba is rich in tourism resources, profound cultural heritage, exquisite ancient buildings and unique folk customs. The famous economist Li Yining spoke highly of it. There are 1,000-meter-long bluestone ancient streets and ancient residential complexes praised as "living fossils of ancient residences" by ancient architecture experts from Tsinghua University. There are the ancient Ming Dynasty temple Dongyue Temple, Qing Dynasty architecture Dahong Rice Store and Jinshi Archway, Shenxian Ancient Cave, The ancient tomb of King Yao, the ancient town historical exhibition hall and other buildings. The National Excellent Tourism City Acceptance Leading Group and Expert Group unanimously believe that Yaoba Ancient Town is no less than the six ancient towns in Jiangsu and Zhejiang. Compared with the surrounding ecological scenic spots, Yaoba Ancient Town is heterogeneous and very complementary.

In this magical and beautiful land, Li Yuelong, a martial arts scholar during the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty, Ren Darong, an anti-Qing fighter in the late Qing Dynasty, Liang Ziming, a modern revolutionary fighter, the famous director Ling Zifeng, Wang Chaowen, the founder of aesthetics, and the famous writer Li Zi A number of outstanding celebrities such as Yingying, Zhou Chongxian, the leader of migrant literature, and Yang Honglie, a famous art designer. It attracted famous directors such as Ling Zifeng, Huang Jianzhong, Guo Baochang, and Su Chongfu, and successively directed and filmed here "Crazy", "Dahong Rice Shop", "Mountain Breeze", "Luzhou Uprising", "Heroes Without Borders", "Kung Fu Pride", More than ten film and television blockbusters such as "Deep Wine Lane" and "Red Memory" have created film and television superstars such as Xu Qing, You Yong, Tao Zeru, etc., and continued the silver screen myths of Shao Bing, Ma Yili, Liu Bei, and Tong Lei, becoming renowned The "Western Film and Television Base" at home and abroad.

A 30 yuan ticket is required to enter the ancient town.

The Jinshi Archway is a symbol of imperial examination achievements in feudal society. The Wujinshi Archway is located at the south end of the ancient street. It was built by the emperor in the 15th year of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty (1810) and was unique to southern Sichuan. . The archway is oriented from northwest to southeast, imitating wood and stone structure, and is a mountain-style building with triple eaves. The total width is 8.80 meters, the total height is 7.80 meters, and the depth is 2.10 meters. It is three rooms wide and has four columns. The plaque and title are in good condition.

The title of the middle pillar is a couplet. Front: Facing the sky to show his strength, bravely crowning the Pixiu team; wearing palace flowers and glowing, honoring the country of his birthplace. On the back: The banquet is overcast, and the golden flowers on the silver list are in full bloom; the name is the Wild Goose Pagoda, and the copper bars and iron elbows are amazing. The archway is beautifully carved and majestic. It is a landmark memorial building in Wuqingfang, Yaoba Ancient Town.

We found that this gate is slightly in the middle of the street and can be entered without a ticket. If tourists know that they can come and go freely here, they will feel somewhat uneasy. But tickets are also useful. If you want to go to the upper floor of Midian to see the scenery of the whole town, you must have a ticket. But I feel that this is just a "barrier" for foreign tourists (the ancient towns around Chengdu do not charge tickets), which is a bit less "WTO". To be honest, tourists should pay some management fees. As long as it is worth it, tourists will not care.

According to reports, the total area of ??Yaoba ancient streets and ancient residential groups is nearly 60,000 square meters. The street runs north-south, stretches flat and zigzag, and is slightly S-shaped, with a total length of 1,000 meters, an average width of 5 meters, the widest point is 7.50 meters, and the narrowest point is 3.50 meters. North Street was built by the Zhou family, and South Street was built by the Li family.

The street is paved with vertical bluestone slabs. Below the slabstone street is a 1.5-meter-wide and 1.2-meter-deep drainage ditch. On both sides of the street are wooden-structured commercial shops. Behind the shops is a courtyard residential building complex, including small green buildings. There are more than 2,000 tile-roofed houses. The upper street is built according to the mountain topography, and the houses are undulating and well-proportioned; the houses in the lower street are quiet and peaceful, with continuous tile ridges and rich rhythm. The Yaoba residential buildings have significant local characteristics in southern Sichuan during the Qing Dynasty. They are one of the few ancient street residential buildings in Sichuan Province that are relatively complete and have extremely distinctive local characteristics. They have high value for cultural exploration, cultural relics research and tourism development.

On the right side of the Jinshi Archway is the former residence of Mr. Wang Chaowen, a famous Chinese sculptor, literary theorist and aesthetic master. According to reports, Mr. Wang Chaowen’s original name was Wang Zhaowen, which means “Yuyu Wenzai”. It seemed that he was destined to devote his life to Chinese culture. Therefore, with dozens of writings worth nearly 10 million words, Mr. Wang has created an academic monument and influenced several generations of art workers.

Chao Chaowen was born on April 18, 1909 in Huatanzi, Yaoba. The former residence is located under the Jinshi Archway in the ancient town. It has a vertical wooden structure and is a typical courtyard house in southern Sichuan. It covers an area of ??500 square meters and a courtyard of 50 square meters. It has an ancient well from the Ming Dynasty, a theater building, a three-square wing building, and exquisite wood carvings. The former residence is divided into theater building, main hall, living room, bedroom, patio, workshop room, side room, etc. The main hall houses shrines and sacred tables, and there are Taishi chairs on the left and right, which shows the family style of poetry, calligraphy, etiquette and music at that time. In the workshop are the rollers, keel carts, winnowing wheels, dustpans, dustpans, coir raincoats, bucket baskets, hoes, rakes, etc. that Wang Chaowen used when he was a boy. The former residence is simple and tidy, but its style remains the same. Mr. Wang Chaowen became a master of aesthetics. It was based on the simple beauty of his hometown as his foundation, and through rational sublimation, he brought the essence of beauty to the world.

Yaoba Ancient Town is the famous "Southern Sichuan Film and Television City". Its profound cultural heritage, unique folk customs, and exquisite ancient buildings have won the favor of many famous directors and movie stars. Filmed more than ten film and television films such as "Crazy", "Dahong Rice Store", "Mountain Breeze", "Luzhou Uprising", "Heroes Without Borders", "Kung Fu Master", "Jeet Kune Do", etc. The famous directors Ling Zifeng, Guo Guo Baochuan, Huang Jianzhong, and movie stars Xu Qing, You Yong, Tao Zeru, Yang Kun, and Shi Lan have left their presence one after another.

Ling Zifeng, born in 1917, came from a well-known family and his ancestral home was Chenqiang Qiang, Yaoba. He is a famous film director in modern China. Yaoba is the childhood hometown of Mr. Ling Zifeng. There are 4 existing houses in the former residence, with small green tile roofs, backed by hills, lush forests and bamboos, and the environment is quiet and full of culture. In 1991, Mr. Ling Zifeng was filming the movie "Crazy" in Yaoba Ancient Town, and happily stayed in the old house for more than a month.

In the courtyard of the exhibition hall of Ling Zifeng’s former residence, there is a banyan tree that is said to have been planted by Mr. Ling before he left home. It shows the power of life in a unique way. The root system has wrapped around the original blue-striped stone flower stand, showing the power of the years.

There is a large mansion, Zhou Gongguan, at the end of the town. It was originally the Zhou ancestral hall and was built by the Zhou family represented by Zhou Qibin Wuju.

The plaques and calligraphy have the words “Good reputation pays tribute to honor” and “Heaven rewards hard work”, reflecting the family tradition of this scholarly family.

The famous Luzhou oil umbrella, handmade in this small town, has a history of hundreds of years. This umbrella is entirely handmade and requires more than 100 steps to complete a finished umbrella. It enjoys a high reputation in the industry for its exquisite paintings and unique production techniques. It's a pity that the umbrella workers took a break during the festival, so we didn't get to see the process of making oil umbrellas. Fortunately, we just watched the process of making umbrellas elsewhere in CCTV's "Home Far Away". Some tourists bought it as a souvenir.

Dahong Rice House is also quite famous. It was built by Li Yuelong, a Jinshi during the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty. It is located on the 17 steps facing the street of Yaoba Ancient Town and is a landmark building of the ancient town. Midian faces the street and is located on a hill in the middle of the thousand-meter long street. It faces east to west and covers an area of ??about 2,000 square meters. It is a southern Sichuan style all-wooden building with front and back yards. The locals call it "Zou Ma Zhuanjiao Building". The front yard is divided into two floors. The upper floor has guardrails with carved flowers, the lower floor has exquisite and elegant corridors, and the firewalls on both sides of the building are intact. Inside is a spacious and elegant patio, with corridors surrounding each other on both sides. The corridors are exquisite, elegant and antique with carved beams and painted pillars.

Dahong Midian is a relic of an ancient building in Yaoba Ancient Town that served as an important distribution center for Sichuan and Guizhou grain trade in history. It is an important material for studying the economic history, transportation history and architectural style of Sichuan and Guizhou. The famous director Huang Jianzhong once filmed the movie "Dahong Rice Store" with this background, which made the store famous. Now, in the Dahong Rice Store, there is an exhibition hall for all film and television props shot in Yaoba Ancient Town and an exhibition hall for furniture from the Ming and Qing Dynasties.

Because he obtained the title of Wu Jinshi, his family is quite wealthy.

Now, visitors can have a tea break here.

There is a Dongyue Temple in the ancient town, which is more majestic than elsewhere. Although there are not many people offering incense, there is an endless stream.

Dongyue Temple, commonly known as the Fire Temple, sits southwest to northeast, is located in the center of the ancient town, and is built along the Jiulong Jubao Mountain. It was first built during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty (1573-1620), and was built during the Kangxi and Jiaqing reigns of the Qing Dynasty. Rebuilding. The entire building follows the terrain and climbs up to the top of the slope step by step. The architectural style is a mountain-style wood and stone structure, consisting of five-layered temples. With a total depth of 84 meters, a total width of 29 meters, and an area of ??more than 6,500 square meters, it is a typical folk religious building in southern Sichuan.

The Yizhong Hall, a famous celebration theater building, commonly known as Wannian Terrace, is a single-eaves resting mountain-style pierced wood and stone structure, covering an area of ??210 square meters. Two dragons are sculpted on the roof to grab treasures, and the picture is lifelike. The ceiling is painted with a symmetrical pattern of 36 characters "Shou". The balcony railings are carved with a large number of exquisite deep relief wood carvings of dramatic content. The second hall is called Kuixing Tower. The three-layered hall is famous as the City God's Hall. The fourth hall is called Donghuang Hall. The fifth-level hall is called Confucius Temple.

There are many tea shops in the town, where many people drink tea and play cards; there are also some catering shops that usually meet the daily needs of the villagers.

I originally planned to stay overnight in Yaoba, but it seemed that the conditions were not very good, so I went straight to Hejiang.
