What are the ethnic minorities in China?
Ethnic minorities refer to ethnic groups other than the main ethnic groups in multi-ethnic countries. In People's Republic of China (PRC), except the Han nationality, the other 55 legal ethnic groups are all ethnic minorities.
The population of ethnic minorities is mainly concentrated in five autonomous regions: Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, Tibet, Guangxi and Ningxia, but mainly in the west and border areas. China has 1 1 provinces and regions with 56 ethnic groups.
Among the 55 ethnic minorities in China, 44 ethnic minorities have established autonomous local governments, and the population of ethnic minorities exercising autonomy accounts for 75% of the total population of ethnic minorities.
