Jiangxi Normal University, located in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province, is a university jointly established by the Ministry of Education and the Jiangxi Provincial People's Government, and is a basic capacity building project for universities in the central and western regions. It has been selected into the first batch of demonstration universities in China to deepen the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education, the national demonstration school for the reform of college teachers' assessment and evaluation, and the national "Sports Aesthetic Education Infiltration Action Plan" universities.
The school was founded by National Chung Cheng University on 1940. Chung Cheng University 1949 was renamed Nanchang University, Jiangxi Normal University 1953 and Jiangxi Jinggangshan University 1969 after the adjustment of national departments.
1972 was renamed as Jiangxi Normal University, and 1983 was renamed as Jiangxi Normal University. In 2003, Jiangxi Financial Workers College (Jiangxi Bank School) was merged into the school.
Characteristics of Jiangxi Normal University
As of May, 20021year, the school has two campuses, Yaohu and Qingshan Lake, covering an area of more than 3,500 mu, with a building area of 1.4 million square meters, with a collection of more than 3.36 million paper books, 0.75 million e-books/kloc-0, 89 databases and more than 60,000 ancient books and online books of the Republic of China.
There are 22 professional colleges, 1 independent colleges (polytechnics) and 89 undergraduate majors.
