Deng Zhuanshu's works

Deng's seal script works include seal script, seal script Tang Lianshi, Zhang Zixi, Heart Sutra, Six Screens of Bai Caotang, Song Aotao and Sun Pingping, etc.

Deng was a famous calligrapher and master of seal cutting in Qing Dynasty. Driven by the textual research of epigraphy, the seal script of Qin, Han and Tang dynasties was able to reproduce its glory. During this period, epigraphy and seal cutting reached perfect harmony. During the 200-odd years of the Qing Dynasty, the theory of seal script emerged one after another, and a large number of calligraphers of imperial seal, such as Weng Fanggang, Wang Shu, Deng and Zhao, emerged.

Deng's contribution

1, Deng's appearance marks the maturity of stele school to write steles in Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties and even Han Dynasty on rice paper with a brush. His greatest contribution lies in taking official script as seal script, breaking through the barrier of imperial seal script for thousands of years, creatively combining the brushwork of official script, boldly using long feng and soft pen, greatly enriching the use of seal script, creating a typical seal script in Qing Dynasty, and making immortal contributions to the development of seal script art.

2. The greatest achievement of his official script is to use Changfeng Yang Hao as a book, which was difficult to do before. His official script comes from the Han tablet, which is closely connected and magnificent, and also makes the official script of the Qing Dynasty look brand-new. His regular script did not start from Tang Kai, but traced back to the source, directly using Wei Bei and Fang Bi. The strokes make it contain the meaning of Li, and the structure does not seek meaning by the method of horizontal light and vertical weight, low left and high right. It is simple and quaint, which is out of tune with the customs and habits at that time, showing the spirit of courage to explore.
