Introduction: Institute of Linguistics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) was established on June 25th, 1950. It was one of the earliest institutes in the field of philosophy and social sciences when China Academy of Sciences was founded. 1977 After the establishment of China Academy of Social Sciences, the Institute of Linguistics was merged into China Academy of Social Sciences. The institute is mainly engaged in the basic research on the present situation and history of Chinese, including pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary and writing, involving lingua franca, dialects and children's languages. It also conducts applied research in Chinese dictionary compilation, phonetic analysis, synthesis and recognition, Chinese information processing and corpus construction, language standardization, and language resource protection.
