"The Classic of Mountains and Seas" is an important ancient book in the pre-Qin Dynasty. It is the oldest geography book rich in myths and legends. It has 18 volumes in total, including 5 volumes of "The Classic of Mountains" and "The Classic of Seas". 8 volumes, "Great Wilderness Sutra" 5 volumes. The content is all-encompassing, mainly describing ancient geography, animals, plants, minerals, mythology, witchcraft, religion, etc., as well as ancient history, medicine, folk customs, ethnicity, etc. In addition, "The Classic of Mountains and Seas" also records some strange events in the form of running accounts, about which there is still considerable controversy. The most representative myths and fables include Kuafu chasing the sun, Nuwa patching up the sky, Jingwei filling up the sea, Dayu controlling floods, King Kong hitting the sky, Yi shooting nine days, etc.
But if you buy the book, you probably don’t need to divide it into volumes. The original text doesn’t have many words at all, and it can be read in about a hundred pages. Of course, there will be more versions with detailed explanations or annotations.
