German officers were hired by the teachers of Prime Minister Yang Zonglian's school in Jian Yong Road, Hubei Province, to teach astronomy, geography, geography, surveying and mapping, mathematics and new methods of marching in the Western Expedition, and to supervise the students to go to the camp to test the gun formation, build a platform, and practice cavalry, infantry, artillery and marching, disposal, separation and defense. China taught classics and carried out loyalty education "in order to root out the roots". One year after graduation, they will be sent back to each battalion to serve, and the best students will stay in the classroom to help teach, or go back to the battalion to be teachers, so that the Beiyang battalions can "fully understand the victory of the recent Western Expedition." After the Qing Dynasty, the government ordered all provinces to set up new armament schools, and all provinces set up schools similar to Tianjin armament school, such as Jiangnan Lushi School, Zhejiang armament school, Shanxi armament school and Baoding Military Academy (namely Beiyang Military Academy, formerly known as Baoding Dongguan University Hall). The scope of enrollment, in addition to military affairs in the camp, some schools also expand the enrollment of officials' children and gentry's children who are about 20 years old and are proficient in arts and sciences. The former is a formal student and the latter is an additional student. Length of study, one-year accelerated, three-year formal. Foreign languages (German, English, Japanese), history (Chinese and foreign war negotiation history, ancient heroic deeds, etc. ), geography and art of war are added to the main course.
