Story skills

Shan Hai Jing not only records some important ancient mountain geography and customs, but also preserves a lot of myths and legends. Some legends are even absurd.

In overseas classics, there is a paragraph that mentions "a country that runs through Hungary (chest)". People born in this country have "orifices" from chest to back, which are round holes. How did this big hole come from? According to the later "Huai Nan Zi", in ancient times, when Dayu was fighting floods, he was executed for being late for no reason. After the flood subsided, Dayu proclaimed himself emperor. He sent a special envoy, Fan Chengguang, to tour around with two dragons. When I first came to the South China Sea and passed by Fangfang, two officials of Fangfang held a grudge because Dayu killed their monarch. Seeing Dayu's emissary driving a dragon, I was angry. I bent my bow and took an arrow and shot it with a whoosh. But the arrow missed and the two dragons disappeared in the blink of an eye. Knowing that they had caused a great disaster, the two courtiers felt that it was better to commit suicide than to be caught and beheaded. So the two men pulled out their daggers, stabbed a big hole in their chest and fell to the ground and died. When Dayu knew about it, he respected their loyalty and sent someone to pull out their daggers and apply the elixir to the wound. Although they came back from the dead, the hole in their chest could not be restored and passed on to future generations. Although the big hole in the Hungarian chest looks unsightly, it is still quite practical. If those distinguished people don't want to go, they take off their clothes, find two attendants and a rip-off, carry them up and go, which is smooth and convenient, much easier than taking a sedan chair.

Shan Hai Jing recorded many fantastic stories, and even Sima Qian said, "I dare not say anything about Yu Benji (the ancient books have been lost) and the monsters in Shan Hai Jing." However, these did not affect people's interest in reading Shan Hai Jing, but aroused more intense curiosity. Since ancient times, many people have studied and studied The Classic of Mountains and Seas, which has gradually formed a trend.
