So, in this issue, we will take a look at the bamboo slips of Tsinghua in Tsinghua University.
In July 2008, Tsinghua University collected a number of bamboo slips of the Warring States Period, which were called "Tsinghua Bamboo Slips". According to the carbon 14, Tsinghua bamboo slips are cultural relics in the middle and late Warring States period, and the writing style is mainly Chu. The number of bamboo slips is about 2500 (including a few broken ones), which is more among the bamboo slips found so far. Tsinghua bamboo slips were buried underground before Qin Dynasty, and were not influenced by "burning books to bury Confucianism", so they can show the original appearance of ancient books in pre-Qin Dynasty to the greatest extent, and studying them is helpful to understand the original appearance and development of China culture.
In July 2008, alumnus Zhao Weiguo donated 2,388 bamboo slips of the Warring States Period to his alma mater, Tsinghua University. After being auctioned overseas, these bamboo slips were donated to Tsinghua University by alumnus Zhao Weiguo. As for the unearthed time and dispersion process of these bamboo slips, it is unknown now. Most of the "classics and history" books recorded on bamboo slips have never been seen before. Professor Li Xueqin, the chief scientist of the Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties Dating Project and the leader of the expert group, commented that "this will greatly change the face of the study of ancient history in China, and its value is incalculable".
These bamboo slips were shipped to Tsinghua University on July 5, 2008. The school immediately organized experts to clean up and protect it in three months. According to statistics after cleaning, bamboo slips in Tsinghua account for a large proportion, and there are generally characters on bamboo slips.
Jane has various shapes, the longest is 46 cm, and the shortest is about 10 cm. The ink characters on bamboo slips were written by different calligraphers with different styles, and most of them were written clearly. There are a few bamboo slips with red grid lines, called "Zhu Sizhu".
On June 65438+1October 65438+April 2008, Tsinghua University invited 1 1 experts, including Li and Qiu Xigui, to observe and identify these bamboo slips. Experts agree that these bamboo slips of the Warring States Period are very precious historical relics, involving the core content of China's traditional culture, and they are unprecedented discoveries, which will surely be valued by scholars at home and abroad.
From June 65438+June 654381October+April 2008, the expert panel composed of 1 1 concluded that the bamboo slips were dated to the middle and late Warring States period, and the contents were mostly unprecedented historical books.
In order to prove this assertion, at the end of 2008, Peking University Accelerator Quality Laboratory and Quaternary Dating Laboratory conducted AMS carbon dating for 14 years on these bamboo slips. After tree ring correction, the data obtained is 305 BC plus or minus 30 years, that is, the middle and late Warring States period, which is basically consistent with the results observed in ancient philology.
In addition, experts also asked Tsinghua University Analysis Center to measure the moisture content of bamboo slips, and the result was 400%, which was the result of soaking in water for thousands of years. Modern people can't do this. Li Xueqin said: "Let's make a bold guess. If these bamboo slips are from Hubei, they were made before Bai Qi cut Chu (278 BC). "
Conclusion Although Tsinghua bamboo slips are of great significance to Tsinghua University, Zhao Weiguo's spirit of not forgetting the roots is the biggest publicity in Tsinghua. I think the origin of Tsinghua bamboo slips is far less precious than this spirit.
