In the early Song Dynasty, Song Taizong (Zhao Guangyi) ordered Liu Yun and others to compile a book with thousands of volumes, and collected and extracted the important contents of more than 600 kinds of ancient books, which were classified into 55 families. It is a reference book with considerable reference value. The book was written during the reign of Taiping Xingguo in Song Taizong, so it was originally named Taiping Bian.
According to Lu Shui Tan Yan, Retirement in the Spring and Autumn Period and Ming Dynasty or History of Song Dynasty, Song Taizong was very interested in this book and read it himself after editing it. He himself stipulated that he should read at least two or three volumes every day and finish them all within one year, so this book was later called "imperial reading" ("imperial reading").
At that time, some people thought that besides dealing with state affairs, it was too hard for the emperor to read this big book every day, so they advised him to read less, not necessarily every day, and to pay attention to rest. Song Taizong said, "I like reading, which is very interesting. Opening books is beneficial. Is it in vain? "
"Open-book is beneficial" later formed an idiom. "Volume", that is, books, ancient books are mostly pasted into a long volume, and then rolled up for preservation. "Open book is beneficial", as long as you open the book, it is beneficial, as long as you have access to the book, it is always beneficial.
