The room provides a spacious and comfortable learning environment for readers. In the whole year, it received 1.9 million readers, and about 1.8 million books were in circulation.
Shanghai Library is the location of Shanghai Central Library, and now it has 37 district (county) branches, university branches and professional branches. Grass-roots service points in streets and towns continue to extend to communities, and work together with libraries and intelligence agencies of universities, scientific research institutions, districts and counties and enterprise groups in Shanghai to actively carry out collaborative procurement of documents and materials in Shanghai. Shanghai Library has established interlibrary loan cooperation with OCLC and 65 library and information institutions at home and abroad, realizing cross-industry, cross-regional and cross-border resource sharing.
The main literature reading areas of Shanghai Library are located in areas A and C, the exhibition hall is located in area D, and lectures are held in the multi-function hall (area B) and lecture hall (area D).
Area A is the reading area for ancient books, modern documents, patents, standards and other special scientific and technological documents, and area C is the reading and borrowing area for modern documents. Readers can enter the reading and lending area with valid reading and lending cards. Old people over 70 years old can also enter the room to read with their old-age cards. Public welfare exhibitions and lectures are free.
