Xishan Bashui Garden Spring Garden: the summer resort of emperors in past dynasties

The Summer Palace is a famous imperial garden in Qing Dynasty with beautiful scenery. Looking west from the east bank of Kunming Lake in the Summer Palace, you will see the famous Yuquan Mountain and the iconic landscape "Yufeng Tower" standing on it, which is undoubtedly one of the famous borrowing scenes of this important garden in the Summer Palace.

Yuquan Mountain is located at the eastern foot of Xishan Mountain. Looking from the east, I saw six peaks interlocking, winding from north to south, and the mountains overlap, which is fascinating.

It is said that "the soil pattern looms here, making black dragon scales, sand marks and stone gaps, and springs everywhere", and "the water is clear and blue, clean as jade", so it is called "Yuquan"; Yuquan Mountain got its name.

The entrance of mountain spring water is sweet and has the reputation of "the first spring in the world"; Yuquan Tu Tu is one of the famous "Eight Scenes of Yanjing".

The buildings on the mountain are built according to the situation, including Xiangyan Temple and Furong Hall. In the center is the nine-story octagonal glazed brick "Jade Peak Tower" built in imitation of the Jinshan Tower in Zhenjiang. The "Jade Peak Tower" echoes the wonderful tower on the north side of the peak and becomes a scenic spot in the Summer Palace.

Furong Temple, also known as Furong Pavilion or Furong Palace, is a Summer Palace left by Jin Zhangzong according to historical records. Now only ruins are left, and there are ancient ginkgo trees that are growing well. Therefore, most people think that this place should be one of the Eight Palaces in the Western Hills of Jin Zhangzong.

There are also many records in ancient books about Jin Zhangzong's construction and visit to Quanyuan Hospital.

According to "The Scenery of the Imperial Capital", "The Lotus Hall is old in the mountains, and Jin Zhangzong is also a palace." "Tianfu Guangji" records: "The Eighth Courtyard of Jin Zhangzong Xishan is a place for banquets ... Yuquan Mountain is based on Lotus Temple ... Yuquan Mountain is more than 20 miles west of Beijing, and the word Yuquan is engraved on the cliff at the top. Water comes out of the stone and sounds like flowers. The address of Furong Temple in Jin Zhangzong Palace is also. "

It is said that before the Liao Dynasty, it was just a hill by the Gaoliang River. After King Jin Hailing moved his capital to Yanjing, he built the Jinshan Palace here. Jin Zhangzong led the water from Yuquan to the foot of Jinshan and named it Jinchi. At present, near the spring, there are large-character tablets inscribed by Gan Long, Yuquan Tu Tu and No.1 Spring in the World, and the full-text tablet inscribed by Minister Wang Youdun.

As far as historical records are concerned, this scene has been called "Yuquan Bow Rainbow" since the Jin Dynasty. It can be seen that the amount and height difference of spring water in Jin Dynasty are not comparable to those in Qianlong period. As a result, the arty Lord Ganlong used flowers instead of trees and decorated the place with the name Baotu Spring in Shandong, which was quite a "cottage".

It is said that the Lotus Hall was built on the hillside on the south bank of the main spring, and there is a Guanyin cave under it, which is two feet deep and contains Guanyin statues. Jin Zhangzong often goes to caves to escape the heat and enjoy the cool. At that time, Yuquan flowed slowly around Furong Hall and poured into Yuquan Lake in the South Garden of Yuquan Mountain. Therefore, in those days, the scene here was named "Lotus Sunny Photo".

According to Jin Zongji, "Yuquan Mountain was lucky in August of the first year of Mingchang, Yuquan Mountain was lucky in April of six years, and Yuquan Mountain was lucky in May of seven years", and so on, Jin Zhangzong's preference for spring water sources can be seen.

Later, emperors used this place as a summer resort and built palaces around the mountains. By the Qing dynasty, it was already a large-scale royal palace.

Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty also had a good eye for pearls. He ordered the spring garden to be repaired on the old basis of the previous dynasty and named it "Jingming Garden", which became one of the famous three mountains and five gardens later.
