Andy Lau: In the performance of the first episode, many people said that I didn't play the traitor enough, but I think Liu Jianming is a real person. He lives in the police station. The police have a stronger sense of distinction between good people and bad people than ordinary people, so I must not let the people and the audience see that I am a bad person.
In fact, in his bones, he is a bad person. In the third episode, I feel that I have experienced a lot of things and found that Sergeant Huang did bad things, but they also had a chance to be good. Why didn't Liu Jianming? I'm more focused on his thinking changes.
My conclusion is that everyone's background is different. They are all from the police and good people. Liu Jianming was born in the underworld and was a bad man. This is his background. Why can the police do bad things in the police station, but the underworld can't forgive good things in the police station? This entanglement makes Liu Jianming's psychological imbalance, which is also the beauty of this film.
Reporter: Do you have any special designs for playing Liu Jianming in Endless?
Andy Lau: Every time I play a role, I will use the past of the role to design his future. Now that the third episode has been filmed, I don't need to give him a new personality, but the plot makes Liu Jianming meet something different. I followed his character and imagined what changes he would make.
When I encounter problems, I will discuss them with the director and reach an understanding. I often feel that I spend more time in movies than I do in movies. In fact, when I changed my clothes, I became Liu Jianming, and I played Liu Jianming at the scene or elsewhere. During the shooting, I just lived with Liu Jianming.
It is worth mentioning that when I played Liu Jianming, I deliberately humiliated myself, so that the audience and even the people in the play didn't know what Liu Jianming was actually thinking. Basically, I try to reduce my facial expressions so that others will not notice that I am a bad person.

Reporter: Have you consulted other characters or some people in real life to help you build a model of this character?
Andy Lau: No, because I've never seen a bad guy undercover in a police station in a movie, and I can't find a similar person for reference in reality, so I can only imagine it myself. But this is also my advantage, because there is no reference, no comparison, and I can interpret it at will.
Reporter: As a Liu Jianming, what do you think of Chen Yongren?
Andy Lau: I think Liu Jianming is just an animal, and Chen Yongren is also an animal, but at first they thought they were human. In fact, both Chen Yongren and Liu Jianming did bad things, only some good people spared Chen Yongren, but now Chen Yongren is accusing Liu Jianming in turn. This is fate, it is a very simple thing.
In fact, there is a scene that tells Dr. Li that they want to be good people, but they have their own destiny. I feel that Chen Yongren and I are basically the same person at that moment, and everyone's mentality is actually the same, and I think this scene is also the essence of this film.
Reporter: It seems that you put a lot of feelings into this role. How do you feel Liu Jianming's pain?
Andy Lau: I can't describe it. This kind of pain needs you to feel with the first body. Even I, Andy Lau, can only interpret 70% of Liu Jianming's pain. I believe that if Liu Jianming really exists in this world, his pain will be more painful than I have inferred.
Reporter: If you put yourself in the role of Liu Jianming, will it affect your real life?
Andy Lau: It doesn't matter much. Maybe it made me realize that I can't do bad things. Maybe someone will forgive you for doing something bad, but it's hard not to be forgiven in the end.
When the world progresses to a certain extent, it is difficult to understand one's own moral concepts. We can't be like Liu Jianming. He really wants to be a good man, but because he wants to be a good man, he has done many bad things. Never let "wanting to be a good person" be an excuse to do bad things.

Andy Lau: I have a lot of acting experience, but they may be more experienced than me in script writing. I usually wait until their scripts are finished. If you think there is something wrong with this role, discuss it with them until they can convince me that Liu Jianming is really like this, and then I will do it. As an actor, you must believe in the role you play, so that you can be fascinated by the role. This is "life"

Reporter: When you propose to change the director and screenwriter for the group scenes in the movie, will you care about the scenes of other actors?
Andy Lau: First of all, I know my role very well. Then I will consider what other actors do. Sometimes, I think Kelly Chen is a psychologist, but she has psychological barriers. Andy Lau: First of all, to be clear, this movie is by no means a drama. Let's start with Infernal Affairs 2, which is basically a documentary.
