Detailed introduction of Juxiang Bookstore

Entering the courtyard, the plaque on the gate reads "Fengze Garden"; there are several small courtyards in the garden, and there is a small courtyard in the east of the garden. The plaque on the foyer reads " Juxiang Bookstore". Juxiang's library is at the back. Passed through the front hall, walked through a courtyard, passed through the second hall, walked through the second courtyard, passed through the third hall, entered the third courtyard, and saw a Ming and Qing style mansion. This is Juxiang Jushi's study room. The plaque hanging above the study room reads "Ziyunxuan". This is Juxiang’s bookstore. In summary, Juxiang's residence is: Zhongshuhai - Fengze Garden - Juxiang Bookstore - Ziyunxuan. Although Juxiang layman has gone far away, he still feels the gloom, murderousness and majesty of this place while walking through it.

Look at the whole picture from outside the bookstore, including the platform base is about 10 meters high, the east-west width is about 20 meters, and the depth is about 9 meters. It is a flying eaves and bucket arch style building. There are three ancient cypress trees to the east of the door. The tree diameter is about 70 centimeters and the trunk is about 15 meters high. They do not have beards and branches like the ancient cypresses in the Working People's Cultural Palace. They grow tall and straight. They are at least more than a hundred years old. They should be Planted during the Qing Dynasty. There is also a large iron tank in the courtyard, similar to the large iron tank in the Forbidden City, which is said to contain water for fire-fighting purposes.

Enter the room and look around, there is no window in the entire bookstore, it is surrounded by curtains and the lights are dim. At the west end is the couch of Juxiang layman. The bed is covered with white cotton sheets, the quilt cover is also white cotton, and the pillows are old-fashioned, rectangular like sleepers, rather than the dough bag shape used by modern people. The couch is wider than an ordinary single bed and narrower than a double bed. There are books placed on the inside of the bed, which shows that Juxiang was sleeping alone. The chief designer also said in an answer to an Italian reporter that Juxiang separated from his wife after entering the city.

In the center of the room is a large rectangular bookcase, with books placed on it; around it are bookshelves, and the books on the bookshelves are not neatly arranged, just like what you have seen in the photos. It can be seen that Juxiang layman is a person who loves reading. Visitors stayed indoors for about 20 minutes, while I mainly browsed the categories of Ju Xiang’s books. There are hardcover classics of Marxism-Leninism, wire-bound history books, books by Lu Xun, literary classics and calligraphy copybooks, military works, and philosophical writings. Most of the books seem to have never been read, or only occasionally read. They are displayed there, which is Juxiang's hobby of books. The book table in the center of the book room contains some books and annotations that Juxiang Juxiang has read, and some books are even held down with paperweights. The books I have read mainly include "Twenty-Four Histories" and "Zi Zhi Tong Jian"; I only read the beginning of "Das Kapital" and did not continue reading. Layman Juxiang read some pamphlets such as the Communist Manifesto very carefully, as can be seen from the annotations in the books. There are few books on natural science, law, and economic research in Juxiang's collection.

Juxiang Bookstore contains Mao Zedong’s study and library, which stores a large number of Mao Zedong’s books. In addition, his bedroom and office also housed his extensive collection of books. After Mao Zedong's death, the staff sorted out Mao Zedong's collection of books here, and preliminary statistics found that there were nearly 100,000 volumes. Mao Zedong, who loved simplicity all his life, was fond of books. After his death, the central government established a team composed of many people to organize Mao Zedong's collection of books. It took them three years to complete the catalog of Mao Zedong's collection.
