According to myths and legends, Ning Fengzi, an official of the Yellow Emperor Tao Zheng, taught the Yellow Emperor the art of controlling dragons and flying clouds. Self-immolation will rise up and down along with the five-colored smoke on the road, and his bones will be buried in "Ningbei Mountain". This Ningbei Mountain is now Beiyuntai Mountain in Xiuwu County. Xiuwu County was called "Ning" in ancient times. Later, it was called Pangu Mountain, Nuwa Mountain and Wuxing Mountain in myths and legends.
In the Eastern Han Dynasty, it was generally called Taihang Mountain. The last emperor Liu Xiechan abdicated his throne to King Cao Pi of Wei, and was granted the title of Shanyang Gong.
