Introduction to costume characteristics in Song Dynasty

Clothing in the Song Dynasty generally followed the legacy of the Tang Dynasty and belonged to Hanfu. However, it pays more attention to the characteristics of simple and concise costumes, which makes it less gorgeous and luxurious in Tang Dynasty costumes, and fully embodies the characteristics of China ancient traditional costumes.

In the Song Dynasty, both royalty and ordinary people liked to wear a coat with a straight collar and double-breasted buttons, because it was comfortable and elegant.

In the early years of the Northern Song Dynasty, because the costumes were not customized and influenced by foreign countries, Qidan clothes appeared, which was called strange clothes. Then bureaucratic clothes are generally extravagant, and the people are also very particular about clothes.

Women's clothing: In Song Taizu, three years ago, it was stipulated that the color of women's clothing in the palace should change with the doctor, and it was also stipulated that ordinary people should not use five-color exotic clothes. During the seven years of Injong, Yingzong, Zongshen and Zhenghe, the government advocated improving clothes and becoming more luxurious. The common people turned a deaf ear to these regulations, and Lu Ling Jinxiu took them at will. Some noble boudoirs in Beijing have also designed a variety of dressing styles in an ingenious way, pursuing novelty and chic. Not only the choice of materials is exquisite, but also the dressing is very distinctive. Some people comb their hair generously, some people tie their shoulders, some people skillfully hold up golden phoenix on their foreheads, and the poor also decorate their hair with paper-cuts, incense their bodies and embroider their feet.

The phenomenon of female foot-binding was common in the Northern Song Dynasty, which was not as straight as the three-inch golden lotus in the Qing Dynasty, but larger than that in the Qing Dynasty. Su Shi once wrote a poem about foot binding: Tu Xiang Mo Lian took a step and took socks to Ling Bo for a long time; I saw the dance in the air without a trace. Stealing the palace is as stable as Mount Tai, and it is a double drop; It's hard to say exquisite, but it must be seen from the palm of your hand.

Men's wear: there are official clothes, regular clothes, casual clothes, Confucian clothes and so on. , and the color distinction is obvious. Such as uniforms, are graded by color. Officials at level 9 and above use cyan, officials at level 7 and above use green, officials at level 5 and above use red, and officials at level 3 and above use purple. During the Yuanfeng period, purple was used for more than four grades, scarlet for more than six grades, and green for more than nine grades. According to the regulations at that time, purple and scarlet clothes should be equipped with fish bags decorated with gold and silver, from which the position can be clearly seen.
