MicrosoftOfficeWord is a paid word processing application of Microsoft Corporation and one of the most popular word processing programs. It was originally written by RichardBrodie in 1983 for IBM computers running DOS, and later became a part of MicrosoftOffice. Word provides many easy-to-use document creation tools and a rich set of functions for creating complex documents. The first generation of Word developed by MS-DOS computer was released at the end of 1983, but the response was poor, and its sales volume lagged behind that of rival products such as WordPerfect.
Nevertheless, in the Macintosh system, Word won wide acceptance after the release of 1985, especially the second release of Word 3.0 1 for Macintosh two years later. Like other Mac software, WordforMac is a real (what you see is what you get) editor. Because MS-DOS is a character interface system, WordforDOS is the first text editor developed for IBMPC. When editing, font identifiers such as "bold" and "italics" are displayed directly on the screen instead of "what you see is what you get". Other DOS text editors, such as WordStar and WordPerfect, use simple text display with identification code or color difference when displaying on the screen.
