One of the Four Great Kanyu Patriarchs in Southern Jiangxi: Liao Jinjing’s Detailed Explanation

Liao Jinjing (943--1018), whose given name was Yu and whose courtesy name was Boyu, was said to have gone to the mountains to learn Taoism. He was a native of Huangpi Village, Huangpi Town, Ningdu County. He lived in the "Jinjing Cave" of Cuiwei Peak in Qianhua County (now Ningdu) for a long time. He was named Ping'an layman and called himself "Jinjingshanren", so later generations called him "Liao Jinjing".

The provincial, prefecture, prefecture and county annals all record the people of Yu Qianhua (now Ningdu), and the records are correct when compared with the genealogy records; only the "Dictionary of Chinese Names" records the Yuyu capital's birthplace, which is incorrect.

Living in Henan for a long time, his ancestor Liao Chongde was appointed as the county magistrate of Qianhua (now Ningdu) during Gengzi Zhenguan of the Tang Dynasty, so he settled in Qianhua and became the ancestor of the Liao family. Yu is the tenth grandson of Chongde and the fourth grandson of Liao Luan, the founder of Huangpi (the grandson of Liao Sanchuan, son of Liao Luan). In the early Song Dynasty, he was recommended by Mao Yi but failed, so he devoted himself to studying the Kanyu skills of his grandfather Liao Sanchuan and his father Liao Tong.

Yu was only 12 years old when his father passed away. In his middle age, he was good at public affairs, so he moved his father’s bones to the human form of Dashingling, and then moved his father’s bones to Ningre, Fujian. Water lion shape. Yu never returned to Huangpi and lived in seclusion in Jinjing Mountain, concentrating on writing. (Note: Liao Luan and Yang Junsong were officials at the same time. In order to avoid war at the end of the Tang Dynasty, he resigned from office and returned to Qianhua with Yang Junsong)

Yu is gifted with intelligence, erudition and strong memory; he loves fantasy. Skilled in astronomy and geography. It is said that he was only fifteen years old and had already mastered the "Four Books and Five Classics", and the villagers called him "Liao Wu Jing".

At the end of the Tang Dynasty, there was war and chaos, and the imperial examination was not continued. Liao Yu's father "Liao Sanchuan" was good at Kanyu. Liao Yu had been exposed to it since he was a child and turned to study the art of Kanyu. When Yang Jiupong was active in Xingguo, Ningdu, and Yudu, Liao Yu and Yang Junsong met in Qianhua. At first, he refused to accept Yang Jiupong, because he was young and energetic, and he often fought with Yang Gong. Once, the Liao family in Huangpi asked Yang Jiupong to determine a location for the gate tower. Liao Jinjing used a compass to determine the direction in advance and buried a copper coin in the ground as a mark. After Yang came to rescue the poor, he didn't use a compass. He just used a bamboo pole in his hand and inserted it into the ground, but he hit the square hole in the middle of the copper coin. Liao Jinjing was convinced by Duke Yang and worshiped him as his teacher devoutly.

Liao Jinjing originally lived in Zhongshanba, Ningdu. In order to follow Yang Gong sooner or later, he moved to Sanliao Village, Xingguo with his master. Later, he received the "Qingnang Secret Book" passed down by Yang Gong himself. He also established the foundation in Sanliao and wrote books to promote Feng Shui culture and provide the hereditary inheritance for future generations. The couplet on the gate of the temple of Mr. Yang of the Liao family of Sanliao, "The bamboo stick is green and the rivers and mountains of thousands of miles are returned to the stick; the green bag is so wonderful that one day the stars are hidden in the doctor" alludes to this story.
