So there is a problem: when we were young, we all learned to write with strokes from regular script, but adults don't need to write with strokes in most cases.
Then the question comes: should adults practice calligraphy, like when they were young, starting with regular script strokes or directly practicing running script?
I think most people will practice regular script by default, which is in line with our thinking habits after all. Moreover, we are all instilled by adults with the concept that "regular script is to walk, running script is to run, and you must learn to walk before you can run".
But the problem is, nobody cares about you when you grow up. It takes a lot of time to start practicing regular script, and I don't know to what extent it is a running script.
And after practicing, you will find that regular script and running script seem to be different routines. Many people who write well in regular script will become "naive" as soon as they write running script, and even collapse with a little scribbling.
So what should adults do if they want to practice writing?
Compared with regular script, the strokes of running script are more elegant and smooth, and it is easier to write personal characteristics and X.
Of course, what is more important is that the line is faster, more convenient and more versatile.
Many people want to practice running script, but they often get stuck at the beginning:
"I can't even practice regular script, even running script."
"Running script is not to write the strokes of regular script together? Why am I even uglier when I write it? "
In view of these problems, we consulted the calligrapher Li. He was runner-up in Yongchuan Xinzhengbei Hard Pen Calligraphy Competition in 20 19, runner-up in Taiwan Province Friendship Cup Hard Pen Calligraphy Competition in 20 18, and champion in Taiwan Province Yiyanzhai Hard Pen Calligraphy Competition in 20 17 ... He is an out-and-out calligrapher.
Faced with these problems, he said bluntly: both of the above views are wrong.
Because in the history of calligraphy development, both running script and regular script developed independently and in parallel, and there is no strict relationship between them.
On the technical level, both running script and regular script have their own aesthetic logic, and the font structure, stroke order and stroke form are different. Running script is not a quick writing of regular script, nor is it to connect the strokes of regular script.
Therefore, even if the regular script is not well written, you can still practice the running script well!
Calligraphy cannot be accelerated, but writing can be improved quickly.
When it comes to practicing calligraphy, many people's first choice is to copy copybooks.
Li said that copying copybooks is not as efficient as expected. Because bad writing is often due to strokes/structure, and because we have been used to it for a long time, it is not only difficult for us to correct it, but also difficult to realize it.
Therefore, if you want to write well quickly, you must first correct your long-standing habit of wrong stroke structure, and then slowly consolidate it with copybooks and gradually develop new correct habits.
Li believes that as long as the method is proper, taken seriously and trained for a short time, you can write quickly and well. As long as you learn the basic strokes, radicals and structures of Chinese characters, anyone can improve significantly in a short time.
