What is judo?

Judo is a competitive sport in which two people compete with their bare hands. Judo combines rigidity with softness, which can give full play to physical and mental abilities, develop physical agility, flexibility and strength, and exercise the quality of will.

Jiu Jitsu was recorded in China in the Ming Dynasty. 1638 Zhejiang native Chen Jiumao went to Japan to help create Jiu Jitsu. 1882, modern judo was founded in Japan, and Kodokan was built to train judo athletes. 1893 Kodokan began to train women judo players. Judo is one of the contents of Japanese physical education textbooks for universities, middle schools and primary schools. Judo is popular in schools, enterprises, military, police and government agencies all over the country. 1949, the All-Japan Judo Federation was established.
